The bone jarring ride I receive with my PASM on, reminds me that im in the finest sports car ever built.

I like to feel the road beneath my seat, it feels like im 3" from the ground, a solid grip around the corners.

with the PASM on, im part of the car as if it was built around me, "as if it was built for me"

I feel in control.

do you ride with your PASM on or off and why?

As I have PSE I hit the sport button almost everytime I get in my car. I live in an area with rough roads however, so i deactivate the "shock" button after hitting sport, and don't turn it on until i get somewhere where i want a more dialed in ride. Just a sanity check, i'm doing this right, right?

On 997.1 cars PASM Sport (PASM button On) can be quite harsh and is ill advised on anything but billiard-like surfaces. A jumping stiff/hard suspension lacking the necessary compliance affects handling and grip suffers.

On 997.2 cars PASM Sport (PASM button On) is far better tuned and it can be used more often. For proper handling and car control it still needs fairly smooth surfaces though.

Same. Sport ON, PASM OFF. If I every get the Softronic flash I will opt for the always-on Sport mode so I dont have to push two buttons everytime I get in the car.

PASM is always on. It simply adjusts to firmer or softer damping maps.

I ride with it in "normal". "Sport" is generally too harsh for most roads.

In nomal mode it will firm up if needed. Likewise, in sport mode it will become more compliant if the road is really bad.

Help a noob out...

What is PASM?

My 997.2 has two buttons... sport and sport plus. I don't have the schock absorber button.

Is that what you're referring to?

PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) is a suspension std on the Carrera S (optional on Carrera) using electrically controlled valved shocks. It has 2 operating modes activated by a toggle on the dash - Normal and Sport. In either mode adjusts shock valving dynamically. Sport should be used on the track or on very good road surfaces.

Cars also equipped with Sport Chrono (SC) automatically activate PASM Sport when SC Sport (or Sport Plus) is turned on. PASM can be toggle back to Normal even when SC is on.

It appears that you own a Carrera, which does not have PASM but has SC. Your suspension is purely mechanical (non-adjustable).

No SPASM for me. I do wish you could put the throttle response in Sport independently.

Just a comment on acronym use:

SPASM is not the same as PASM Sport.

SPASM is one type of PASM suspension on the 997.2 series. SPASM also has SPASM Normal and SPASPm Sport.

Me too. You're doing it right. I've heard from some and read that leaving the sport button on and the PASM on "Normal" results in a somewhat more tuned setting on the suspension than with the Sport button off. I have a really hard time telling the difference in the suspension. I drive with the Sport button on for the increased throttle response. Really key for driving off the highway and blipping the throttle on downshifts. I find the throttle response too slow without it.

Sport mode almost knocks my teeth out on any surface that is not smooth! I leave it for the race track. I will hit the sport mode and then click off the firmer shock settings on occasion.

I have rarely used the PASM or the Sport button in my 997.2. The ride is too harsh with the PASM turned on in most areas in town, in addition, I dont really need the sport feature on the local roads here either.
