I am not sure if get all these add'll models that Porsche puts out and there crazy pricing. You can get a base carrera bolt on power adder(supercharger or turbo) coilovers bigger rims and tires and you will spank the club sport, gts and match the turbo.and for way less.Maybe its just me.

I love the GTS but would rather have a GT3 for that kind of money.

I'm with you man, I think some of these super limited models are marketed at Jerry Seinfeld type collectors. It's also a true indication that the next series 911 is right around the corner because they seem to introduce more models at the end of a series life cycle. I think it's a way for Porsche to stir up some 11th hour sales for the old series and get people to buy now rather than wait until the new series comes out. Porsche really is very good at marketing their products.

I very much agree. People have speculated that they are clearing the parts bins with the GTS. Maybe, maybe not. What they have done is out together a package the many C2s drivers want: wide body and more power. Someone even compared it to the limited edition ducktail for 150K less. That is a bit of a stretch but this variant has stirred the pot a bit and will boost sales a bit in the end. Win for the customer and win for Porsche.

I have mixed feelings on the car . On one hand it won't hold its value but it will be one heck of a 997 car.
I see a lot of posts bring up the gt3, Turbo, or future model.

It's not a Gt3.
It's not a Turbo.
It's not the next model.
But it will be an amazing 997.

Do you think that it will depreciate faster than a C2S? Seems like the production numbers will be 2 coupe and 2 cab per dealer. And only for 1 year. I don't know how many dealers there are but it seems that production numbers will be low and most of the C2S crowd has been envious of the wider hips. Any chance this car will retain value better than a C2S?

I would say absolutely yes. Will it be 20% more? Probably not. 10% more? Who knows. But anyone who thinks the unique features (like the only C4 body on the C2 drivetrain) will not help collector / resale value is simply fooling themselves.

Good point. I only use the area behind the front seats for golf clubs or my briefcase.

Do you remember the 40th anniversary? and that was during a great economy...
