Porshce buttons suck

because i've gotten so used to them they screw me up when driving my other car LOL. I'm used to only shifting with my right hand both up and down now that I kept up shifting when I meant to down shift while driving my other car.

Anyone else experience this?

BTW before I get flamed I actually like the buttons now and only think they would be bad in a track setting where I know that you can upshift by accident.

i like shifting with the gear shifter - up goes up the gears and down goes down - very intuitive

But no possible "money shift" - so there are more precarious setups you could come across...

Before I actually used them, I never thought I would like them, but after using the buttons for about 9 months now, primarily the right one, I also like them and have no regrets not having paddles.

i put on the paddle steering wheel and love it. i never really tried to get used to the buttons.

note - if you get the one with the display lights for sport chrono functions it's not compatible with 2009 DME....

Coming to Porsche after having several BMW's which the manumatic has the opposite movement for shifting(move lever forward to downshift, pull lever back for upshift). So in the beginning I used to mess up when using the lever on the PDK.
Up until recently I would just put the car in sport mode and leave it in drive, but now I put it in sport plus and put it in manual. I use the buttons and the lever and the car is much more fun to drive. I would prefer the paddles but the lease runs out in 12months so will not spend my money on that upgrade.
No one should flame you for this comment, all the magazine articles I have read say that porsche needs to start using paddles and do away with these ridiculous buttons on the steering wheel....they are starting to listen.

which is what messed me up in my other car. The right paddle only shifts up, so a few times I meant to shift down and went up anyway

Not the end of the world but it would be nice it the car had paddles. after my first track event I'll decide if I think its worth the 1200 bucks

i agree.....I consider them very intuitive.... Not sure I wouldn't like the paddles but I certainly find what I have very easy to use..

just to be clear

I was kinda of joking about the buttons sucking. I've gotten used to them and they would not bother me at all if it was my only car. The problem is that my weekend car has proper paddles meaning right shifts up and left shifts down and I'm so used to just shift in the porsche with one hand that I get confused LOL.

I think after my first track day I will end up switching to the paddles on the porsche, because unwanted up shifts will drive me nuts.
