reewrd is infamous around these parts
i put a set on my 997s recently. i have about 500 miles on them. for the money, they are ok.

for me they are not the same as the michelins i took off. while i agree they probably ultimately aren't any slower, the front tires are numb by comparison, and for me do not inspire the confidence the michelin's did.

i don't know exactly how to describe it, but when pushing the car beyond 50% in a corner (entry / exit) i swear i can feel the rim moving around in the tire. it's like the sidewall is 75% less rigid than the michelin. the michelin tires were almost telepathic - like a razor through butter. right now i really miss that.

while i'm a little disappointed right now, i'm not ready to pull them off quite yet. since i only have 500 miles on them, i am hoping they'll get better. the main criticism is the way the fronts feel vs. the michelin's.

when i replaced my rosso with ps2, i felt the ps2 has a softer tire wall. so, hopefully what you are feeling is due to the extra threds.

Grip is about the same as the PS2's (I didn't notice a difference to be honest) and I actually turned a better time in the autocross this year vs. last. Today I drove about 200 miles on the highway in the rain @ around 75 mph and did not have any issues with hydroplaning. Felt very stable at speed. I currently have about 5000 miles on them and they seem to be wearing just fine.

I would recommend giving them a shot. What do you have to lose? You can always try em out for a season and if they are not your cup of tea, then go back to the OEM tires.
Exactly my experience. Had them on my 997S and also have them on my 335i. Fantastic tires.....95% the tire of the PS2's at 45% of the cost

thanks

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I will go with the Hankooks but will probably wait until Spring given that I haven't hit the wearbars yet on mine and the car will sit much of the winter.

Thanks again.

Was just stopped at a red light when a Bentley GT pulled up next to me. As I was waiting for the light to change I looked at his tires and they were Hankook's.

Never heard of them so it is ironic that I came across this thread.

Get the Hankooks, stay away from Falken. I ran Falken on 2 other cars and both have given me problems with bubbles. Not a coincidence that the other member here had bubbles in his Falkens too. Also, Falken's tire rep told me the only reason he couldn't sponsor my vehicle for car show coverage is because the 452 isn't Load Rated for the rear end of the 911.

I have them on my cayman street wheels and they are comparable to PS2 which cost twice as much. I don't track on these, and don't intend to, but for daily driving, they are a great deal. no complaints here.

I have it on my tt and it has about 8kmi now. I haven't noticed any unusual wear and it's been good so far. At first, the tire seemed too soft like others have noted but the tire firmed up after about 1kmi and it's been good. Car feels stable above 160+ and works good in rain also. I have no complaints.

How many miles are you guys getting from the Hankooks? Are they comparable to the 10-14k from the PS2s or do you get even more?

I'm quite curious about these

Actually, that's how I feel about the difference between the PS2's and the Hankooks, too. Well put. I definitely felt much more confident in the Michelin as you noted however one thing these Hankooks are better at IMHO is communicating grip through sound. The PS2's didn't give me much aural feedback as to when they were about to lose all grip whereas the Ventus will sing. I kind of like that right now for my ability on track.

I probably missed as to where the tires are purchased?
Is tax collected when buying out of state?

Best price I could find was on discount tire direct. Not sure if they are a sponsor so if they are not I am sure the mods will edit this post. If I recall, they are not even available at tire rack. Tax is not collected if there is not a retail location in your state. I have found that it is by far cheaper to have the tires shipped to me and then mounted by a local.
