Hankook tires
+1, Eli, and "confirmed" in Tirerack's 2010 tests, but why confuse opinions by throwing in facts?
i will try hankook r-s3 tires next season on stock 18" 8"/10" rims - 245/285.
not quite sure how they are on wet but for dry conditions thy should be pretty good as it is esentialy a r-comp tire with street tread on it.

My first post here...
After I bought my 997.1 C2S 2008, I went in to the local dealer and he gave me a quote for the rear tires (OEM Pirelli Rosso 305/30-19). Their price was ridiculous and he agreed to some extent. He then said that I could buy tires anywhere, as long as I made sure they had the N-marking. N would mean they were specifically designed for Porsche.
Could that be an issue here? I looked at tirerack and the only fitting Hankook there had no N-marking... Anyone tried tires without the N-marking? Big difference?

And check your tire pressures. I run my H's a bit lower than either the Michelins or Pirellis I had on before. I have about 8k miles on the fronts and 15k on the rears and they're doing just fine. I'd guess 20k from the rears before they have low enough tread depth to get sloppy in the wet, and probably the same from the fronts.
I'm very happy with these tires in terms of cost, handling, road noise, and wet driving. As a bonus they seem to go fine at lower ambient temps than the M's or P's (maybe mid-30s instead of 40ish). On the down side they flatten out when sitting for 6-8 hours but round out after a couple of miles - less of a tendency to do this with more air in them, and similar experience with M's and P's so not a relative disadvantage.
That's one guy's experience, so far, on one car. YMMV

what PSI are you guys running on the kooks at like lets say 50f..im going by the psi it says on my door. is that a bit to hard for cold temps.. i also dont want to run the tires low and kill them.. any input fellaz
This time of year I'm at about 35 fronts and 40 rears, vs 37/44 on my label. In summer I take 2-4 lbs out of each tire (cold) to account for higher daytime temps and quicker warm up. You can run them fine with lower pressures, say 32/38, and many prefer that.
Lower pressures they wobble a bit and wear the outer edges, higher pressures they feel greasy - just like any other tire.
