used dynolicious iphone app and launch control

tried psm on
my 0-10 is awful - maybe the timer started before i took my foot off brake?
so my 0-60 is bad too..but look at my 1/4 mile...looks awesome..would be much better if i can get the timer/launch to work better

Any thoughts?

obviously the HP is way wrong...no mods

also tried PSM off - but my back end was all over the place so didn't have a good run...0-60 was over 9 seconds

like to hear thoughts about what went right and what went wrong...also, whats the best way to use launch control? PSM on ?

seems like a cool app but not very accurate

I could not have an app like that because I would constantly being trying to do better and end up in jail

No way you are cutting a 12.1 1/4 with a 7.17 0-60. Seems like the app is off. There is no doubt that your car is faster to 60 then 7.19.

I cut a 10.2 in my GTO and my 0-60 is 2.9 sec. That is track verified.

it looks like you are using the app wrong somewhere. The data does not hold up. You would probably black out from the acceleration needed to go from the lethargic 0-60 to the smoking 1/4 mile!
A couple of tips. First, calibrate the iPhone or Touch on a really flat surface. Then take a couple of velcro straps and strap the iPhone to the top of your center console armrest. (open the cubby and strap to lid, then close again) This position will be pretty accurate since it is almost the center of the vehicle on all axis. The device can't move at all when mounted. The road has to be smooth and level too.
We managed to do this and get amazingly precise data. We did the same on a Z06 vette and had repeated runs within a percent of published data. My C2S was a bit slower because I don't want to do a 5000 RPM drop clutch launch. The clutches are very, very soft on these cars, so I figured on not pushing it.
Hope this helps and you should see some good results!

You will not do 123 in 1/4. You know that right? So I guess those folks that are advising you are on to something. I was thinking about this app but with the results I have seen decided against it. Basically it seems to give a spread of numbers and I guess you can pick whatever you like. There is a dedicated setup that was making the rounds a few years ago that seemed pretty accurate. Don't remember the name sadly. Mounted on your windshield? Ne 1 recall?

Dynolicious Results

I just did a run with this ap, following installation of NHP headers. I was on an onramp so I did not floor it for a whole quarter mile, just going for the 0-60 time from a standing start. I do not believe the HP results (even with the recent mods)! I mounted the iPhone in a Belkin charger with an adjustable arm on it, plugged into the lighter on the center console. I think this is a pretty stable mount for the phone. I calibrated the phone before the run. I used 3770 lbs for vehicle weight and 12% for drive train power loss. I plan to redo this for better accuracy and vehicle average results, but here are the numbers from this trial run:

Acceleration

0-10 MPH: 1.12 sec
0-20 MPH: 1.71 sec
0-30 MPH: 2.34 sec
0-40 MPH: 3.01 sec
0-50 MPH: 3.73 sec
0-60 MPH: 4.62 sec
0-70 MPH: 5.55 sec
0-80 MPH: 6.49 sec

Elapsed Time

60': 2.61 sec @ 33.2 MPH
330': 5.87 sec @ 71.4 MPH
1/8 mi: 8.59 sec @ 83.0 MPH
1000': 11.49 sec @ 78.2 MPH
1/4 mi: 14.33 sec @ 76.7 MPH

Miscellaneous

Max Speed: 85.0 MPH
Max Acceleration: 0.79 G's
Peak Horsepower: 439 HP

More Dynolicious Results

I got different results today, with 4 runs, but these numbers do seem more realistic. I think there was a problem with yesterday's single run. Most likely the phone wasn't properly oriented.

Acceleration

0-10 MPH: 1.11 sec
0-20 MPH: 1.81 sec
0-30 MPH: 2.50 sec
0-40 MPH: 3.23 sec
0-50 MPH: 4.22 sec
0-60 MPH: 5.28 sec
0-70 MPH: 6.49 sec
0-80 MPH: 8.26 sec
0-90 MPH: 9.74 sec
Elapsed Time

60': 2.68 sec @ 31.3 MPH
330': 6.17 sec @ 66.7 MPH
1/8 mi: 9.15 sec @ 80.9 MPH
1000': 11.46 sec @ 92.4 MPH
Miscellaneous

Max Speed: 82.4 MPH
Max Acceleration: 0.74 G's
Peak Horsepower: 321 HP

the second data set is very close to mine. Remember that the road has to be both straight and level for the data to be meaningful. Also, position the device in the center of the vehicle, as low as possible. Vibration effects the accuracy as well. I used an old mouse-pad and cut it to fit the iPhone4 Bottom. I don't trust any "mounts" either. If you put a camera on those mounts, you will find that they shake and flex like crazy. Strap the phone to the center console lid, laying flat. It is super stable there and is in the center most position that is feasible to achieve.....

in mine?...yep.

I opened the center console lid and took 2 velcro straps, fed them under the lid and closed it. Then I put the rubber pad on top, put the iPhone4 on that, and cinched the straps down. There is Zero movement!
