2006 997 C2S Cabrio on the way!! But.....

Hello guys!!!
About to pull the trigger on a very nice meteor gray 997 C2S Cabrio. Still need to get the PPI, but car looks quite solid and well taken care of. The ONLY issue at this time is that the previous (and only) owner is a smoker. He did smoke in the car, with the top and windows up. Is there ANY way to get COMPLETELY rid of the cigarette smell? I am getting the car at a pretty great deal, and I really don't think the cigarette smell will be a deal breaker, but as a non-smoker, it could be a nuisance. Any help would be appreciated!

THANKS!!!!

Abdon

You might re post this in the Detailing forum, as there are some site sponsors who are professional detailers. They are also very willing to share their knowledge.

Only buy if you can get rid of the smell. Smoke is a deal breaker. Disgusting. I've had a smoker sit in my car for 5 minutes (didn't smoke in my car). It smelled for a few hrs and went away.

I had a father that smoked and I got his Audi Allroad and it smelled terrible ... I used a wet vac steam cleaner and went over everything that was actual material that could handle it. From the headliner to each carpet, floormat, door, etc and the smell was gone.

The vac steam cleaner was your basic machine that can be used for cleaning pet odors, etc. I think they call it the green machine ... anyway it was great and you would never know the car was smoked in.

GOT THE CAR!!!! NO SMOKE SMELL!!! Apparently they confused the car with another one....IT'S AWESOME!!!!
Drives great, feels great!!! Only thing that has me just a little worried is that the TPC light (tire pressure?) came on, but the tires are all fine (?) Also, when I try to start the car too soon after having turned it off, it seems to stall a bit, but then turns right on. Going to get this all checked out, I have 5 days to return the car to carmax, no questions asked (I really don't want to, but I will if I have to) and 30 days where they GUARANTEE fixing ANYTHING I may find that may be wrong with the car.
Overall though, I could not wipe the grin off my face as I drove the car home!!!
I hope the nuances are minor and esily fixed, I am really excited about my new (to me) Porsche!

CONGRATS! Let's see those pics!!!!

That's a pretty nice guarantee. I'd never thought I would ever by from carmax, but now I'd consider them....

Could be a number of things with the TPMS. Could be a sensor or just that the system needs to be reset. Dealer can fix it easy enough. I wouldn't let that be a deal breaker for you. My car has done the stall on start up thing on rare occasions but always started on the second try. Believe it might just be me not cranking it long enough to get it light up due my general impatience with the world in general. But has only happened a couple times since I've owned the car ( 2years + ) and I have never given it a second thought of it being some serious mechanical issue with the car. As for the grin, that comes with every Porsche free of charge.

Congrats to you! I have a 2006 C2S Cab as well. The smile will return every time you enter your garage. Glad the smoke smell wasn't a problem. It'd remind me always that someone else danced with my girl.
