Host changes needed. Those guys have very little chemistry. None of them have any of the character of James, Richard, and Jeremy. That's what makes Top Gear.

I agree, like I said before, Tanner seems to be the only person that belongs on the show.

Yeah I think he's the best fit, but still, where's his cache? He's the Richard Hammond of the show I think and he's just missing a little edge. The other two could be replaced with a lot of people. At least Foust has a racing pedigree. But none of the guys on the real Top Gear have any sort of pedigree, so what does that say?

Clarkson is an old, balding man. May is an old fart trapped in an semi-old fartish body. Hammond is a young and almost hip guy that is.... well I don't know what to call him. Excitable is one word. Slightly dumb but not really, just plays off that way on the show a lot. But so do the other two, especially Clarkson.

Oh, i guess I'm different, but i like the Leno shows. And at least he has cool cars. Beats watching $3000 trucks driving around for an hour...
Although the show is not as good as Top Gear UK, the Alaska bit was very close to something you would have seen on the UK version. Sure it wasn't as good as they would have done it. But the show is way better than the first episode or 2.

Still has a ways to go, but I felt each show got better than the previous one. The studio part was always painful to watch, but as someone noted it looked like they filmed all or most of it over 1-2 days. Not much time to build chemistry that way.

I like the show. If you take it in the context of US car shows, then it FAR exceeds anything out there. What else is there that isn't really staid? How about Motorweek on PBS... ridiculous. Or Speed networks "Battle of the Supercars" with that obviously steroid pumped host -- are they trying to appeal to WWF 12 year olds with him....????
The show would be great if the host was eliminated and Tracy and Foust went at each other mano-a-mano in their car comparisons. "Pinks" is so lame.

Basically, I see a lot of criticism but please tell me what program is better in the US?

Yes that is his claim to fame. Tanner will drive/drift circles (sorry) around Jeeza, Hamster and the other guy any day. The only person on a car show better than him is Paul Tracy and Tanner has outdriven him in several segments of "Battle of the Supercars" and consistently keeps up with Paul the rest of the time. Paul would leave any other car host now on TV in the dust.

I've heard a lot of talk about Leno hosting. The program formula requires outlandish stunts, dark humor, non-PC comments, wit etc. Though Leno can be witty and he loves cars, I am certain he will not want to do the stunts
and sometimes "jacka**" type of activities seen.... like getting drunk on moonshine. Leno's way too conservative for that.

obviously doesn't compare to the UK version, but it's still a funny and well-produced show. Got to see a live taping too - the guys are all pretty cool and work hard to entertain the audience and do a good job. tanner was awful in the beginning, but he's gotten more comfortable and entertaining in later episodes

Like...

Last episode was very good, sorry whining here about a little lost chemistry that will come in time.... no comparisons to UK top gear etc just a great last episode IMO, Not many if any US based high budget high end car shows out there. Hope it continues.... That Morgan is stunning... the AM was also simply amazing to look at and the Lambo's!... Still amazed at how many hated this series and were so pasisonate about how they couldn't bare to watch. For me it was better then watching another 6 hrs of Muscle car auctions. Everytime wifey walks in the room and she hears the autionaire (Barrets or Mecum or other...) rambling away she gives the ole eyball roll and walks out

Lets see what next year brings.....
