New 928...
i dont think its a modern 928. it looks to be a 2 seater, instead of a 2+2 like the 928.
as the article says, it's a more road going version of the 918.
i think posche knows that electric powertrain is going to be part of that future. this is why all these hybrid powerplants are coming out.

you took the words right out of my mouth
and I can only assume its going to extremely expensive so I guess it does not matter for me because my pockets won't be deep enough
Some guy merged an R8 + 918 is what it looks like - I'm sure Porsche is keeping a tight lid on the real thing. Some of the 998/991 renders looked pretty outrageous too compared to how the late spy shots are coming along.
Go figure, VWAG owns Audi, Lambo, and Porsche. I am sure there cars will be sharing parts and designs sooner then later with Porsche.

I think Porsche is trying to get some additional usage out of the R&D they did for the drivetrain in 918 Spyder. It is the same drivetrain.
I doubt the car will look anything like this, and I believe it will slot above the 911 series, but below the 918 spyder. So, if this model were to actually be produced, expect it to cost north of $200K.

Personally, I'm surprised to see Porsche taking this many design cues from the 918 and putting them in an "ordinary" car. My dealer thinks the new "928" would basically be a 2 door version of the Panamera.
That would make sense with the 918 drive train.
Look at the face of a Carrera GT and a Panamera together - just the front, please. Check out the center console of the the CGT and the 918 and the Panamera. There's a method to their madness - at least from the driver's seat and forward.
