Should I, or shouldn't I?

I made the mistake of checking my local dealership's inventory tonight, and I'm sorry (sort of) to see that they still have a car I've had my eye on for awhile now.
http://www.porschedealer.com/onepage...-Cabriolet.pdf
My current 997 is a perfectly nice, and I mean perfectly, 2008 meteor gray w black std leather (just turned 10,000 miles.) But I'm a sucker for the white/red leather combo, and I'm feeling like the 997.2 would be a nice upgrade.
The new car has full leather and seat ventilation, as well as a few other nice doo-dads, but my current car has the sport chrono pkg. Neither has Nav.
If I could get a trade in the high 50's and purchase this car for say 92, for a difference of about 35, what do you think?

if you do upgrade, at least get an S or GTS....

otherwise, you are blowing your money away since your car is barely breaking in and perfectly fine.

I agree with those who say wait.

BTW .. the day i bought my car in 09 there was a cab almost identical to the one you posted but it was an 'S' . If you recall .. back then at that time the discounts were significant .

I'm thinking maybe 15% off a leftover '10 with no Sport Chrono. What do you think? The car is kind of an oddball. Non S, no nav, no SC, yet has full leather and ventilated seats. If they'd give me 20% off it might be hard to pass up.

I agree. If you were interested in tracking the car, this example would not have caught your eye, and for road purposes, I consider a dot two to be fine without the S package. I can't imagine you need the nav package any more than we do living in the high desert of California versus yours. Basically, a straight Carrera in the 997.2 will match an S from the 2008 model year. It has ten less horsepower, but the broad torque curve of that DFI engine matters more in road work. The only option I would miss is the PASM that comes with the S package.

As a road car, I think you'll love it. Now if you're looking for investment advice, I'd say the others commenting have the more financial approach you need. Lots of people look for a nav package automatically for example. If you plan to trade it again in another year, that sort of thing adds to your cost.

Thanks for the responses. I think the power of the .2 base model would be fine. In fact, I'm fine with the power of my .1 base model. My concern over nav is not major - more concerned about lack of SC package. However, the truth is I rarely use the sport button on my current car. I think it's mainly a resale issue, but I'd anticipate a car w full red leather would be a long-term keeper. I have no idea whether or not the dealer will be reasonable, but I think it's going to take a killer deal to move this car off the lot.

I won't argue with 20 percent . If you went to trade it in next week you'd get 30 percent knocked off that MSRP .

I wouild not pay more though. At 107K it's not cheap . are you sure that you don't want an "S" as long as you are going deep . Why not just order that same car but with the exact options you want the most (deleting some and adding others) and pay 7 grand more ?

No S? I don't like that idea.

Sport Chrono can be added for $870. You get all the software but no no dash wart...which is essentially just an egg timer anyway.

If you worry about resale value, then get the S, if you haven't notice, most of the new members that recently purchased a 997 is the S model. I'm one of them, never even considered a non-S model

you should

edit; I posted that and then read your question. Overall, thats my feeling, you should do whatever makes you the happiest.

sadly as I read the rest of the responses I made my way to your last which is that the car sold.

So, how do you feel, would you have bought it now, knowing its not going to be available tomorrow? If so, search for the next one and dont let it slip away.
