Feeling lucky and fortunate

I've owned various Porsches since 1987 (944, 987 and 4 911s....the most recent a 2010 C4S Cab) and while they're expensive, when you think about what you get for the money I believe you get soooo much back it's almost not fair.

Every day I get into this car I get a feeling I get nowhere else. That little thrill when I'm walking up to it and hit the open key and then I get in and look around and realize I get to put my key in this car and drive this thing until I feel like stopping..........and that's everyday!!! Where else can you find this.

It reminds me about "you get what you pay for". Years ago when we were renovationg this old house we live in and we met a stained/leaded glass artist who wanted to do our front door....and it was going to be expensive!! We bit the bullet and went for it and everyday when I come home or pass it by in the hallway that thrill is still with me....how can you put a price tag on that "feeling"!

Just thinkin' and appreciatin'

Tom

After 3 years of ownership, the best part of my morning is driving the C2S to work. Driving home in rush hour traffic, not the best part of the evening

Couldn't agree more.

In the past several years I've changed vehicles more than I care to admit. Even so, I never replaced a vehicle with the same make or model. I was always looking for my "perfect" car, only to realize after a couple or three years of ownership I had compromised just to "get into something new or different". Next thing you know I would find myself checking out the newest models of various manufacturers and comparing what I had with what I now wanted. I'm convinced my wife thinks I suffer from some weird mental sickness or genetic defect. Whenever I started cruising the dealerships, she'd just sigh, roll her eyes and mutter "here we go again" under her breath.

Since obtaining my 911 I just don't see that scenario happening again. I've been driving my '09 for over a year now and I am as excited about owning it as the first day it was in my garage. If and when I do decide to move on, it'll be into another Porsche 911 model. Maybe then I'll be able to convince the wife that I'm cured.

Very nice car, glass and thought. Thanks for sharing your emotional experience. Surfah, your avatar so exemplifies the timeless 911 silhouette. I love it.

Reading this in the back of a cab, doing 120 kph on the open road in the boonies in Hainan, China. Wishing I were in my 911. But I'd probably get arrested. And I don't speak Chinese.

I hear you. The smell of my full leather interior. The buzz from a clean downshift. The highlight of my day is going to and coming home from work. Sometimes I feel like I'm not worthy.

Love this thread. Beautiful car and door

After picking up a Cayenne I was sold on a '10 Targa4S and its been one of the happiest moments of my life. I have worked hard building my company and have had some luck on my side - 10 years later am able to afford these mechanical beauties I only dreamed about 5 years ago. Quoting Ryem3 - I do feel like I am not worthy!

I see someone posted a thread here before about how to make decent earning to obtain a Porsche or Ferrari; I like what you said, you get what you pay for,my understanding is No pain,no gain, you pay out your deligence and effort for return of extraordinary happiness and little luxuries for you and your family. I always think I am lucky,ESPECIALLY after getting my 997,wife told me that the black thing just seems to be my concubine;Anyway,i went too far;Just can not stop thinking some of your feelings there, agree with you.And nice car, beautiful house I believe, enjoy and appreciate!

Excellent thread! Well said OP!

As we all get caught up in a busy life, it's good to be remindered to step back and look at & appreciate all the really nice things that surround us.

Truly enjoying those special moments, whether it's driving or sharing time with our loved ones, is what makes it for me.
