oil temperature 997S

hi all - only had my new 997S for less than a week - but now notice it takes a long time for the oil temperature gauge to move up off the base - granted it is cold in the garage and outside ---is this normal? thanks, larry

What do you consider a long time?

Depending on where you're located you might consider switching viscosity.
I'm in the SF Bay Area and my dealer tech swapped me from 0-40 to 5-40. It does seem to war up a bit faster.

Here in Cincinnati lately it takes a solid 8-10 minutes to get above 150 deg F. Driven lightly, of course.

You may not need the lower visc.oil in SF but I can't think of any reason why you would see faster warmup.

rabkay,
Even in the summer w/95 degree temperature it takes me ~12-15 miles of Interstate driving to get the oil temperature up to normal.

It definitely takes 10 miles to get the oil to working temp ie >175 degrees. That is why you should not drive your P-car regularly on short drives (ie < 10 miles). I always take the long backroad route to work and stretch my commute (from the usual 4 miles) to 10 miles to 12 miles.
