Cool Porsche PPI vs Safety Inspection

Hi guys. I am in the process of buying used 997 from a private owner. I requested the owner to get PPI from a Porsche dealership, but he said his dealer told him they don't do PPI any more because of some liability issue. Instead, they will do used vehicle safety inspection, which check breaks, tires, and etc. Are these same thing? Thanks in advance.

He doesnt get a ppi done, you do. You want to be the one the dealer or Indy answer to.

I've always preferred a good indy shop over the dealer anyway. I find them to be more thorough and more willing to communicate. I feel like the dealer just goes down their checklist and is a more "general" inspection.

Just my experience.

Unfortunately, the car is couple thousand miles away. I am asking the owner to do PPI at the dealership, but he said the dealership doesn't do PPI.

The distance is no matter as long as the car checks out. (Just bought another car 1200 miles away myself without seeing it) Again, that's why I prefer the independent shops for PPI because they'll likely talk to you on the phone whilst being your "eyes" from many miles away. More personal service I suppose.

I had seen plenty of pictures but they were able to delve into the minutiae of the cars condition that you wouldn't be able to see from pictures alone.

The PPI is cheaper than a round trip plane ticket is most cases and even still you'd want it looked at mechanically anyway.

Lastly, I've never heard of a Porsche dealer who didn't do PPI's.
