997 Hot Shoes: Do you think you it is possible to take noob in a 430 Scud
in a base 997.1 Carrera on a shorter track.. say the streets of willow etc.? Assume the Ferrari driver thinks he knows how to drive but is really just fighting the red mist--no training whatsoever.
What better car to learn to drive on track for a beginner than a 430 Scuderia. There is no danger in this at all. Not for him, his car, or you.
Enjoy. I'd start behind him, and just hang out in his mirror for 3 1/2 minutes or less, and wait for something spectacular to happen.

Anything is possible, but on most tracks a 430 Suderia is faster then a 997.2GT3RS. They are beasts! If the driver doesn't know what he is doing, or are being cautious then it is possible. I know a pro racer that was passing a bunch of Porsches in a rental Jeep Cherokee.
Thanks for the replies. This is looking COMPLETELY doable # 14 is the base carrera. Here are the current lap times for the streets of willow.:

If you are asking if an experienced track driver
could beat a novice driving in base 911 Vs the Scud than the answer is absolutely. A scud is not going to turn the novice track driver into a pro. I would say if you put a novice driver in a scud vs a regular track day guy it would not even be close
Used 1989, 1990 Mazda Miata. A skilled driver with a track setup Miata will easily take most novices in any exotic ultra-high performance car.
Force yourself to to learn driving dynamics before depending on 515hp.

Nah, we agree. Your e-sarcasm meter needs calibrating.I expect the Scud to come to an abrupt end.

I thought you were just trolling for GTR bashing, but this is A+ man.Driver skill >>> car.
Most people just dont understand how hard a car
can be driven when it is driven right by a highly trained person. I've taken a few hot laps with a professional racer and it was just amazing. He did things I would not have even have fathomed and i like to think of myself as a decent driver.
If you have to ask this question, then you aren't a fast enough driver to be the hot shoe for the porsche in said competition. but if your scud driver hasn't been to streets and has less than 5 days of track time, I would be willing to bet your pinkslip that someone with a resume or someone with a club racing license would be over 10 seconds a lap faster on streets of willow in your porsche.
Agreed which is why I asked the question. I'm still working on my first track instruction in this car (hopefully soon)

Wait, it's your first time as well?
I'll be the oddball here. I think your track times will be similar.
But if it is a first for both of you, I hope you'll have instructors that won't let you focus on lap times, keep your speeds moderate, and let you enjoy your first time. I see it all the time - people who compare laptimes at a track. In the end, nobody loses, because everybody has a great time. Just remember, you don't win trophies at track events - your car is your trophy. And the best end result is a great learning experience, that allows you to drive home.
If you already knew all of this - please disregard.
