Iphone 4 music volume is low. Does anyone else notice this?
It's remarkable to me how every other thing works so well on these cars except the ipod interface and the bluetooth phone (like the actual sound the other party hears).
My iPod sounds good - just a bit lower in volume, but once I get it set, it's fine. Bluetooth works great for me. Your car is upside-down
- that may have an effect.
I think audio in these cars is a challenge and the Bose, once set up optimally, is not so bad until you get the engine and tires up to highway speeds - not sure if any audio could conquer that without deafening the listener.
Burmester, that is in the Panamera and Cayenne seems great though - extremely expensive for home audio. I hope the new 911s (991) get that if the cost is not over the top. The Panamera system we checked out was pretty awesome.
The upside down car had the Bose. It sounded fantastic. The new 2009 S has the base system and it doesn't compare. I wish I would have had a side by side comparison. It's hard to tell when you are looking at all the features at one time. I had to drive it a while to listen to the same music to realize how good the Bose was.
Also, the 2007 S engine sounds much better than the 2009 S, but that's a new thread.

As far as the DFI engine's sound, you can blame the TUV/Euro spec noise standards by law for that; they are increasingly clamping-down on DB allowed..

I figured out it's the iPhone 4. I tested it against my wife's same phone and her's is way louder. Then I did the same test in her Volvo C70 and got the same results.
I got a new iPhone today and unfortunately, the new phone sounds the same. Back to the drawing board.

The iPhone has a per output volume control (bluetooth is different than headphone, different than internal speaker, etc). Ensure you have the same volume settings once you are actually connect to the car.
I have a similar issue with my iPod, when you plug in the iPhone or an older iPod classic 32G both iPods connect fine and all track information come up but the sound volume is significantly quieter as well as sounding like there is on,y treble playing and no bass.
Any ideas? Software, error or cable fault?
Thanks

I have the older video ipod and the volume can be more than high enough. As another poster mentioned, volume on the ipod itself must be all the way up and then the car (Bose) volume adjusts from there. I use it through usb but as I recall it would go really loud through the ipod interface as well.
Phantome46-- the eq function works on my ipod so you might want to check that setting on yours if you have it. There are many complaints on this forum about Bose blows (no highs and no lows) but I get violins that sound like violins for classical and bass that shakes out on rock so I have never understood those comments. It does matter what bit rate you use and I find 320kbps makes a large difference from lower rates.

thanks jster for the feedback.
I have been playing around with the other aux inputs and they all deliver very premium sound, no issues.
I have inspected the Y lead for the iPod and discovered that i have a pin snapped off.
Have emailed the dealer to log the issue and hope they will dispatch a new lead.
Will update if this fixes the issue.
