Found a leftover 2010 C2 with an MSRP of $92k. This late in the year what would be a fair offer?

Start at 70K... Forget "fair".

 

I wouldn't pay any more than a used 2010. After you drive it home essentially that is what you'll have. The new one will have a little more warranty, but for a few thousand you could extend the warranty on the used one. And have an even longer warranty. Don't get snookered by the lure of the 'new' car smell. Its all dollars and cents.

 

Dealer mark-up is 12% - that kicks it down to just over $80K. Add last-year model dealer incentives, and I suspect you're in for just under $80K. I doubt you could drive away in a new 911 for $70K - a $22K savings.. but I've been married twice, so what do I know...

Keep in mind that the dealers are in business to make a buck.. They may only make one, but they're not going to pay you to drive the car off the lot.

 

I saw an ad the other day from a dealer that still had an new 08 for sale, and several 09's. Remember that it is probably costing them $500/mo. or more to have the car sit there. And invoice is not a real number, there are lots of adjustments, credits, etc. given to the dealers, especially on non-current cars. Never hurts to make a low offer. You can always go up, much harder to go down.

Not technically brand new...but I bet they still smell brand new . This should put you in the ballpark of what to offer...IMHO...

 

I saw on another forum recently a guy got a new '10 for between 17-18% off msrp.

 

It's a high optioned 6MT. Will see what I can get it for. If I can't land this one another will come along. Just need some patience. Unfortunately, these cars are impulse buys.................
