I actually went the opposite way. I had V12's on all corners and just had the rears replaced with PS2's. When I had V12's and went into high speed turns, the rear felt wobbly and would actually lift at about 90mph on the way up to 100's. Not a good feeling.

I just had the rears replaced with PS2's, wow, what a world of a difference. The car is rock stable through the entire turn. No wobble at all now. Will be replacing the fronts soon.

good to hear.

just for reference.. i was running 40 psi on 305/30/19 V12's on 19x11 rims when i felt the 'wobble'..

the car felt better when i raised the psi to 43 (yes, i know factory recommends 44 psi in the rear)

what size and psi were u running?

i realize car&driver test did put those V12 on a second place after dunlop star specs but imho it is a complete bull.

imho only tires wrth to look at are 'standard' old and new PS2, pirelli pzeros, star specs dunlop, potenza RE11 and may be nitto NT05.

also you may want to look at this:

If you can't trust Car & Driver and others who test tires then who can you trust? These tests were conducted under controlled conditions.

I purchased a set of new Hancooks and I have driven three thousand miles on them. I like the value but they do not compare to my old PS2's! I pushed my car in the "on-ramp" of a freeway and I do not have the same confidence that I once had with my PS2's. Maybe the tires were not warmed up but I do notice a difference in the performance. They are a great value but not a great track tire. My next set of tires will be PS2's or 3's.

Someone recently pointed me to this thread as I also recently replaced my rears from ps2s to v12s and felt like I was driving a bus (even with thousands of dollars worth of suspension). Some tires seem to work ok...like peanut butter and jelly... but the combination of these two is like, like brownies and shaving cream...may seem like it could work, but once you take a taste it makes you want to vomit. I am vomiting now. So I am stuck between ordering another set of ps2s for the rear or a full set of something else.

I'll bet Damon could put you in a new set of Pilot Super Sports and you'd be a happy camper.

I tried all pressures on my rears...from 39 to 42 to 45 to even 49...while having more pressure (45 and then 49) make the car feel a tiny little itty bit better, my Xterra off road package still felt more stable. Sad and funny at the same time.
