997BLIS is infamous around these parts
Going Italian on us, huh. The car looks great. Good luck with the sale.

How do you like the F 360? What are the key differences (like/don't like) between the two? Just curious...

Still have the car ?

Just a suggestion --
If you take the Turbo wing off and place the original rear decklid .
If you take the red stripe off .

Then the car will sell in less than a week .

Reading your posts it sounds like trhe car is in great shape and the mods on it are high quality . The problen with selling it is that a total stranger browsing car ads will see all the black and red gear and think he's buying a hard driven hip hop Porsche .

Thanks yrralis1. Agreed the wheels could turn many away -- though I offered to pay for powerder coating. I think if this eBay auction does not sell, I'll go ahead and powder coat them back to stock as re-list.

As for the turbo wing -- curious why you think that would not be a great selling point? I think more people might do a turbo wing on a 997 if the cost were not so high (~$8K). Since I took this off my prior turbo the cost was more modest for me.

Thanks for the suggestions.

360 Likes:
* V8, F1-like sound
* gobs of tq (butt dyno at least)
* making people smile when they see it

360 dislikes:
* preventive maintenance cost
* looming chance something $20k+ might go wrong (though my car is in top condition)
* too much attention sometimes

Had my 997 as a DD. Was getting a little too difficult with my 2 kids, though it was still doable. I must say that I'm thinking about pulling the 997 off the market and making it my DD again.

You have a couple of really special Porsches! Good luck with your sales! or if the 997 does not sell, it would definetly be an awesome DD again.

When selling a car one wants to reach out to a large group of buyers (unless he just trades it in or sells it to an independent dealership --convenience ). The aesthetics are particularly important and the closer the car is to stock the more acceptance it may get . There are even those who might shy away from engine and suspension mods but not as much as the exterior appearance .

Porsches generally attract a more traditional car shopper. The cars are known for being understated in appearance and that reveals a lot about the buyers .
In fact Porsches image is not hip hop , nor bling , nor slammed, nor flashy .

If an aerokit is on the car and it's OEM specifically for that car it has a higher chance of selling than one which isn't. In fact several guys even on this forum shared that one reason they didn't buy a Gt3 (as well as a Turbo) is that the aerokit was too over the top for a daily driver.

We (car modifying guys) are the majority on this forum but are the minority in the Porsche segment . Most keep the car stock.

If you really want to sell the car for top dollar my feeling is bring the exterior close to stock . Keep the revisions minor but conservatively tasteful so that anyone who sees it might cough up the 70+K .

Plus you can sell the wing on its own .

Lastly .. I could have said nothing but I feel I am being sincere and open with the hopes you will get the most for what i feel is a well cared for car .

Good luck.

Thanks all for the advice.

Logistics of getting the stock deck lid back on are tough -- that's in Pittsburgh and the car is in Indy. I'll go that route if necessary though.

So if the car does not sell in this auction I'll start with taking the wheels back to stock.

Next I was thinking bringing the rear lights back to stock - along with clear side markers? They have ~35% tint on them now.

All - here is a video that my consignment dealer took:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp1mlj3LwAc

In about a week it should be going in to have the wheels powder coated back to stock.

I decided to keep the turbo wing on the car and just provide the stock deck lid to the new owner.

It will cost me about $1K to bring the rear lights back to stock as the tint can't be removed on these -- thoughts on that?

Anything else to help sell this car?

Sell the rear lights and you should get at least $500 back
Yes on clear side markers.
Putting the wheels back to stock probably makes sense, but I wonder if it would be easier to see if someone here or on another board would want to do a local trade for lobster forks or other stock wheels. If nobody jumps at that, then you're better off taking care of it yourself and getting it over with.
Regarding the rear deck, I'd bet someone here would pay you $1000 plus the cost of the labor for you to swap back in the stock one. You probably wouldn't do any better as you have it, and you might find a broader audience. I'd be all over that rear wing if I had the cash. I think it's the best option for the rear, hands-down, but I'm sure most others, particularly folks shopping for an 09S would not agree.
