PCCB Generations
PCCB Generations
So I think there are now three generations out there of the PCCB ceramic brakes - does anyone know the model years for each?
The reason I ask is because I have an '05 launch edition 997 and I'm trying to figure out if the PCCBs are Gen 1 or Gen 2. I heard there were a lot of improvements made with Gen 2. The Gen 1 brakes that came on 996 GT2's and others seemed to have a lot of issues especially under heavy track use. I've read the other threads concerning the issues, but want to understand what iterations of the brakes were introduced when...

Others can correct me but I THINK all 997's were Gen II PCCB's, which is what you would have. I don't think were up to Gen3 yet.
How many miles on your brakes? have you changed the pads yet?

I have 40k miles on my PCCBs and have never changed the pads. I think I read somewhere on this board that Porsche claims the life of the PCCBs is at least 185k miles (assuming no track use) - basically they're good for the life of the car.
2005 997 Launch Edition. 44K miles. Per Porsche PPI, 75% remaining on original pads. Virtually no rotor wear. Negated unsprung weight advantage by installing 7mm/15mm spacers
. I believe I have Gen 2 PCCBs.
