New Iforged Wheels
New Iforged Wheels
Long time fan of site and my first post. Currently have an 07 C2S. Just had a new set of I forged Classics and tires installed at dealer as well as a 4 wheel alignment. When I went to pick up my car I noticed that the wheels and tires just didn't look right. My tires are protruding beyond the top of fender by a quarter of an inch. The wheels are 19X11.5 with an offset of 59 running a 305/30 tire, fronts are 19X8.5 with an offset of 45 running a 235/35 tire. Dealer said he noticed that as well, said wheels are not 59 and 45 offset, but didn't offer more than that. Picked up the phone and called the rim guy, sent a picture showing the protrusion. Rim guy says they check and double check offsets and that the offset on the wheels would push the tire flush to the bodywork and not beyond, must be the alignment. Back to dealer, they said car was set with a camber of -1, porsche spec and that they were not comfortable exceeding that. Called rim guy who basically said that the camber needed to be a more agrressive, -1.5. Dealer and rim guy are talking tomorrow to go over alignment. I'm in a he said she said scenario and would welcome any advise on how to proceed.
Thanks and sorry for the long post, just wanted my first to count.

Sorry to hear about the hassle! I don't have much to add, other than:
- someone who does know what's up with offset/alignment will probably chime in, but you might have been better served by a more descriptive thread title, like "Offset / Alignment Question" or something along those lines. If much time passes without an answer, you might try That
- did you search for offset and alignment info? I'll bet it's here somewhere. Try a search on "street alignment" and similar.
- the assumption is that your car is stock, unless you state otherwise. If your car is lowered, provide that info...
Sorry if you already know some of this. Even still, it would be good to post info like that in your thread
Good luck!!

Jack 667, I appreciate the response, it has helped me dial in the question abit. Will a set of rims with a 59 offset rear and 45 offset front running 305 and 235's protrude from the bodywork if the car was aligned to Porsche normal specs? If so will getting a more agressive camber front and rear correct the problem and tuck the tire back flush with the fender or is the offset too agressive to begin with? Trying to get a handle on this so as to determine what is the problem here here, wrong offset or wrong alignment.
Here's the Porsche Spec for Carrera Sport wheels (widest OEM wheels):
Rear: 11.5J x 19 ET 67 Rear: 305/30 ZR 19 (Y)
The offsets are 55 front and 67 rear. 10mm less is going to be close to 3/8 inch out, although Porsche is conservative with their offsets and some run more "aggressive" offsets. FWIW, the wheels above are listed as not compatible with the 5mm spacers (which many also think are conservative). With these wide wheels and 305/235s, they probably don't need any help.
I tend to like the Porsche spec look and don't care for aggressive offsets (lower numbers) that make the wheels stick out.
Here's a cool app that shows how offsets work:

Screwing around with the alignment to fix an incorrect wheel size seems like a bad idea.
Front: 8.5J x 19 ET 55 Front: 235/35 ZR 19 (Y)
Rear: 11.5J x 19 ET 67 Rear: 305/30 ZR 19 (Y)

Do have an update on my earlier post. Brought my car back to the dealer and had the rim guy and dealer speak while car was on alignment rack. After a bit of work the dealer got the tires to sit flush with the bodywork. Final specs were rear -2.5 Camber front -1. I'm still concerned as, according to the dealer, the car is maxed out on - camber. I'm back to questioning whether the offsets as indicated by the wheel store are wrong. Should an 11.5 rim et59 running a 305rear and an 8.5 rim et 45 running a 235 front require the maximum - camber in order to simply get flush with the bodywork ? Are there any problems lurking down the road with the alignment set up?
ur offset: 45 and 59
oem carrera sport offset: 55 and 67
difference of 10 and 8
i had the oem sport rims with same tire sizes as u..
to get it flush to my C2S fender, i used 7mm spacers all around..
so right now, u'll prob have 3mm sticking out in the front and the rear should be fine.
IMO, the 45 and 59 will NOT give u the flush look..
u'll need 48 and 60 offset for the perfect flush.

Thanks to the help from this forum I was able to get my wheels dialed in to where I think they look perfect, sitting just inside lip. My thanks to Peter Han and Eric Molin at Wheel Studio who were diligent in thier efforts to essentially make me happy. Peter had the wheels shipped back, where he had the them reworked, we went from a 4" lip with a 7.5" rear barrel to a 3.5" lip and a 8". Fronts were shaved 3mm. My car was re aligned with a rear neg camber of 1.5, kept the fronts at -1, just liked the way the car behaved at that settting. All in all I got the look I wanted. Again can't thank Peter at Wheel Studio enough, his customer service was outstanding. Appreciate all the memebers help as well.

the aftermarket wheels are a 0.5 inch wider. It should protrude another 14 mm which really should bring the wheels flush

in my car, I've noticed that one of the rear wheels is pushed out a little more than the other side. It was only noticeable when I put on wheel spacers. Maybe the OP's car is the same
