lowering a c4s with sport suspension
lowering a c4s with sport suspension
I need some help, want to lower a 997.2 c4s with eibach springs (or another competitor) and make the alignment a little more aggressive for street/track use. I was told to use camber plates, are toe links accomplishing the same thing and do they do a better/worse job? Any help would be appreciated.

If you lower the car it will increase the negative camber. I lowered my 09 C2S with PASM 20mm with a set of Damptronics (equivilant to 30mm on a non PASM car). I also installed a set of Tarett camber plates. The combination allowed a max camber of -2.5 on the front. I used Tarett adjustable toe links in the rear and set the rear camber at -2.0. Also added Tarett adjustable drop links front/rear and stayed with the factory sways.
The car handles well on the track and doesn't beat me up on the street.
I don't think I would go much beyond that for a dual purpose car.

Alan,

Does anyone know if the stock suspension (shocks) on a PASM C4S with sport suspension will be able to handle lowering via aftermarket springs?
meaning do I HAVE TO switch to a complete coilover or will the new springs work well with the stock shocks?
thanks

akbjr... the camber plates are not the way to go to get the proper camber up front. You actually need GT3 lower control arms. Porsche Motorsport or RSS or Tarrett make these. This is the proper way to get more front camber on a 997.
Lowering springs on a 997S with Sport PASM? humm....why and what are you trying to accomplish. The Sport PASM is really dialed in pretty good but some body roll you might be getting can be controlled better with adjustable sway bars. Or just replace the coilovers with height adjustable coilover and get the car corner balanced. Lowering springs are not going to help you.

mdrums...my main goal was a bit more aggressive alignment for the track. Not necessarily that the car had to be any lower...I will look into the control arms as well, are those 2 pair that are needed I assume?
thanks.
thanks.
1 pr for front only is all you need. Lower control arms and you'll be all set.
