Why does my C2 have a bog / ping off idle??
Why does my C2 have a bog / ping off idle??
I've been at the point in pcar ownership (and manual trans cars in general) where I (almost) always rev match on downshift. it's completely automatic for me to shift this way. Since I picked up this 997 at 14k miles on the odometer (from original owner, very nice yet very old guy, car was showroom fresh), from the get go it has always given me fits with this. In every other respect it is flawless throughout the RPM range. I now have 29k miles on the clock.
Here's what happens: Every 3rd / 4th blip of the throttle when downshifting, or, when sitting in the garage and blipping off idle results in an initial bog or ping. I've run the car bone stock, always use 91 and Mobile1, have tried 100 octane / different oil weights / different intakes / IPD plenum / several exhausts (and various combos of all aforementioned items). Have not done an aftermarket software upgrade, but I did install a sprintbooster today in hopes it would fix it. Again, no dice!!

Anyone have a clue why this is happening? two dealers I've gone to said nothing is wrong. I sincerely doubt my driving skills are superior to what this ride can dish out. I'm at my wits end with this.

plugs are still fine- as they were at 14k miles. Shouldn't timing be handled by the electronics optimally? Not like I can pop in there with a wrench and advance that 'ol distributor.. lol
