Dirty wheel blues...
Dirty wheel blues...
For those of us poor slobs who checked the steel brakes instead of PCCB option, any suggestions on wheel detailing. It seems they get really dirty so much faster than the rest of the car... and such a big mess to rinse onto the driveway Curious what others do about this? No one is allowed to say 'wash the car more often'

try Armor All Wheel Protectant. I have only had my 2011 C2S for not even two months and my neighbor convinced me to try it during week #3. I watched videos on Youtube and read testimonials and thought it was horsesh;t. It really works if used correctly. I applied it to completely clean and dry wheels three weeks ago and am a true believer now. On my 115 mile drive from Beverly Hills to San Diego my wheels were completely black. That was with mostly freeway miles. In the last two weeks with 250 miles of only city driving, they were barely dusty. They were so easy to clean that it was a joke last weekend. I sould like a damn infomercial but just try it.

Sonax & the new Griot's Garage HD wheel cleaners are fabulous, but I managed to rid my Benz of the brake dust blues by switching to ceramic brake pads when I replaced the rotors. That said, this car does NOT get the heavy driving action that most Porsches do. Just a suggestion. Otherwise, a good cleaning followed by a quality wheel sealant is the way to go. No avoiding a little elbow grease when it comes to wheels.....except with ceramic pads.

Not regular Armor All which would definitely attract dirt. The Wheel Protectant is an aerosol spray that is clear and dries to leave a barrier that repels dust and dirt. I am a big skeptic but when I saw the neighbor's Range Rover and Maserati with always-clean wheels I gave in. Granted I have only three weeks experience but I'm sold.

I use the Armor All wheel prtectant on my car and it delivers pretty good results. I have a set of Forgeline wheels on my car with polished lips. After 4 sessions at Mid-Ohio the fronts had a thin band of dust on the inside of the lip which wiped away with no effort and the rears were pretty much dust free. I was running Carbotech XP12 pads.
