997.2 S/4S power kit
Hello everyone,
just wanted to know your thought regarding upgrading the 997.2 DFI engine. My friend has 2010 carrera 4S and he wants to upgrade his engine. Dealer quoted him $16k for porsche powerkit. I suggested to him that he can get almost same power if not more if he goes with after market. I understand that he's keeping his warranty if he goes porsche route but lets see your thoughts on other kits:
PORSCHE:
Engine upgrade to 408 hp. Comprised of modified cylinder heads, carbon-fiber air filter casing (upper part), new variable double resonance intake manifold, sports exhaust system featuring specially designed twin dual-tube tailpipes and modified engine management. NOTE: Also available in conjunction with PDK.
CARGRAPHIC:
307KW / 418PS / 6720 1/min
459Nm / 5890 1/min
Price: 5.495,00 EUR /4
consists of:
R-Exhaustsystem
DME control unit exchange,
Sport air filter
I'm leaning more toward cargraphic kit.

I have a 2011 911S w/PDK. In last March, I installed a FVD Header-Cat-System (Headers 70mm with200 Cell Cats), and flashload software. The result is very satisfying, I do feel a noticeable power gain over 5000RPM. No CEL issue.
In order to keep the total cost in control, I didn't replace the side mufflers. Because this FVD exhaust system comes with center muffler delete, the sound is loud at 5000rpm, I'm pleased with that.

I had retrofitted the powerkit on my gen 2 c2s and have no regret with my purchase. I had also replaced the primary muffler with a pipe made by Tubistyle. The car sounds and goes really well---being a C2S, it is lighter and got a lower drag co-efficient than a GTS.
I am contemplating a 200cell cat (Fabspeed) with a ecu remap (softrionic) to bring the car right up to GT3 level----that depends on what the 991 had to offer!

Do you have C.E.L. without any flashload software?

Yes, you need use FVD software to flash loading the ECU to avoid the CEL. It's been over one year long, and I don't have any issue and my car runs great.

did you fit exhaust simultaneously flasloading Ecu or you flashload Ecu later?
Do you fit this exhaust with tri metal cats 200 cells HD ?

It would seem that that cat 200cells HD don't turn on cel without flashload software??

My exhaust is an old version, #BES 997 292 00S1, the vendor's fine note states that a software tuning is needed. I had the exhaust system installed first. Next step, prior to the software tuning, the FVD software was rewritten to adapt the exhaust system (and IPD intake plenum).

You fill more power gain only over 5000 rpm or you fill also more torque in the low/middle range ?is your 997.2 with PDK trasmission?
Is sound accetable for the urban use ?
thanks

My 2011 911S has PDK and sport chrono package. At normal driving mood, I don't feel too much of a power increase. If it's being set at sport, or sport plus mood, the car is tighten up and more powerful. However, you do need push it harder, over 5000 rpm to squeeze the extra power out. I don't feel to loose any lower end torque.
The FVD exhaust system has a feature of center muffler deletion, the sound is louder but not up to screaming and that suits me well. I don't know if it sounds better than Tubi, Cargraphic or other name brands.
Having had the hardware and software mods, I definitely feel the extra power/toque gain. For the money, I'm totally satisfied with the FVD built quality and performance. BTW, this is my six Porsche.

I'd be curious where this thread goes, but warranty is important and I understand doing most of those aftermarket mods can void warranty. This past Friday I put in Cargraphic sides and Sharkwerks centre, love it.
