X51 Intake VS EVOMS Intake
Which Intake is better performance overall?? My friend , non member is trying to make a decision in the next day. has choice of them both right now...has an NA car. Help the man! =D
thx guys
personally i think the x51 looks muchh better but i wonder if performance is better in the evo?

I vote for X51. It works like the stock intake as a true cold ram air intake in a sealed box, but more efficient with it's dual openings and filter elements. I got mine for a deal though. I wouldn't have bought it at its current retail price ($3,400.00). If your friend is getting a deal on it I would go that route.

3,4000 for a intake??? Thats insane imo
If you do go EVO, i'd recommend buying the "sock" to go over the filter. My MAF went bad 6 months after the install (3500 miles at install). Who knows if it was poor filtration or just bad luck but I can't help but wonder if the filter alone was up to the task of regulating NYC air.

I would have to say, the Porsche's standard Airbox is already a true cold air intake system. The X-51's advantage is the dual filter for increased area of airflow and the questionable CF for reduced temp intake. As for the EVO system, that's not a true CAI system. IMO, he would be better off just getting a BMC drop in filter.

The EVO can be easily sealed if you're worried about hot air (which I agree is a legit concern). I like the EVo box because I think it's a relatively cheap way to add great sound at WOT. I don't expect any material performance gains from it or any other box.
Agreed. I had the BMC filter at one point, and the engine revved more freely from 5k+ onward, compared to before when it was more "choked" up.
Agreed with you regarding the oil contamination, but I would just buy another new BMC filter when it came time to change to new one, which is about every 15-20,000 miles according to the manufacturer. This way, I minimized my own fault for over oiling the filter.
I agree that the EVO does sound mean at WOT

.I think staying stock is a good way to go, but personally I wouldn't use a BMC filter. MAF on these cars are very sensitive to oil contamination and it's a fine line between properly oiled and over oiled. Too little oil and you risk the engine's health.
