However to buy an expensive item sight unseen owned by someone who did not take care of it or was careless .. where significant flaws are revealed ( ie range 5 over rev) .. makes no sense at all..

You've made your point that you don't agree with me.
You've made yoir point to all those others who also would pass up on the car based on the over rev DME.

Good luck to you .

Apparently you feel you haven't made your point on this topic, as it seems to be your mission to continue to be a troll on the topic.

Let it go Larry, you have made a big enough fool of yourself!

Actually Northvan .. when one resorts to name calling and misquotes the discussion it reveals more about you.

This post above has nothing to do with DME .
This has nothing to do with buying a car sight unseen .
This has nothing to do with $8,400 aftermarket warranty
Nor the seller agreement in a sight unseen sale

This has everything to do with Northvan .

Next time you over fev .. smile !!
Congrats on the "skilled driving".

Common Larry admit it, you are just pissed because Don didn't use your help to find him a car. That is after all what you are here on this forum to do....right. It certainly isn't for your insight on other topics.

Like I said about the insight on other topics. How many third party warranties have you had? That makes you an expert on these things like the devaluing of a vehicle by $1500 per body panel that gets repainted.

I have had two extrended warranties . (993 and 993tt) .
Back in the days of the 993 the car only came with a 2 year warranty . It was actually quite common to buy extended warranty. That was 1995 . Perhaps you were in high school back then ? (learning how to write these great posts of course) ... Or maybe driver ed ? Who knows.

If you think they have no fine print and that they are in any way superior to a CPO then guess again .

If you believe that a car with a painted panel is worth the same as an identical car in every aspect without it .. guess again .

... but then again when Norhvan determines what's insightful .

I guess that you were well into middle age in 1995! Not sure were the humour is here in 2011? I guess if you being old is suppose to try and garner some respect for those that are junior to you....well you might as well try anything you can as your post don't seem to provide any.

On the topic of having a new engine replaced under a third party warranty, I know of two. One that was tracked as hard as mine, had a exhaust valve spring break, and took out the piston. Warranty covered it! The other one was a IMS failure, and that car was hardly driven and probably didn't have a single over rev. According to the service advisor, the warranty company (same for both cars) made more of a stink about the one that was never driven.

Things that make you go hmmmm (a little throw back for the older people on this forum)

No one cares about your age Northvan . The point is that a Porsche owner of that time period woild have the experience of a two year warranty .

as for extended warranties .. there are many .
Mine came through for me but your example as well as mine are irrelovant .

It a useless topic unless one compares the actual contract and looks at the details of what it covers in the fine print.

What matters is when the person has the broken car with the contract and is faced with a 'yes" or a 'no".

Really, hasn't that been part of discussion on this thread?

Now extended warranty discussions are useless unless you are a lawyer?

I just brought you too examples of a situation that needed new engines, and they both received a yes, what am I missing with this post?
