New 997 badging
New 997 badging
Maybe lots of folks have done this before me, if so, forgive me...............
Anyways, I was down at the P-car dealer a few weeks ago and they had a new Carrera GTS sitting on the showroom floor. It had really nice badging on the lower edges of both doors that said "Carrera GTS". It looked really nice (IMHO) since it added a little something to the doors without being too big or too loud.
So I went to the Suncoast website and found the part number for these badges and ordered a set in silver (they also come in black). When they arrived I carefully peeled the backing off of the area where GTS was, cut out the G & T and moved the S over to where the G had been.
I cleaned the door really well with window cleaner then used an alcohol wipe on it liberally. The nice thing is, the backing paper the badge is on is cut in the exact shape of the door edge. You just line up the front and bottom edges and start on one end to smooth it down to ensure you dont get any bubbles. Once you have it on smoothly, take the slick backing paper and use it to press really hard and rub the badge down thoroughly to ensure a good seal. When you peel the top paper off you have to go really s-l-o-w and pull the paper as flat as possible with the minimum of uplift. If you arent careful you can pull the edge of a letter up. If that happens, smooth it down carefully with the slick paper.
When you're all done it should look like this. I think it's unique and it looks just right.

Time to buy decals for your tire brand, your air filter brand, your brakes, and whatever mods you have done so far, there is still plenty of space for stickers. Like this

I'm kidding, it's a nice touch.

Nice! actually i want to do this since the GTS comes out but i'm looking for different color other than silver and black. So i need to find someone who can custom made it for me.
Probably if you change the rear badge with the decal like this would look nice also. like the GT2RS, they use decals instead of emblems.

Go to the Overton's boating website. They sell custom made lettering so people can put names on their boats. Their website lets you model about 20 different fonts, colors, shadowing, etc. You type in what you want it to say, and it then shows you exactly what it will look like. You can also select the size and make it as small/large as you want. Very durable material and reasonably priced.

i need a carrera S emblem in chrome, porsche said they dont do one, just the silver emblem and bright chrome exhaust looks off, would love a chrome emblem, but finding one without paying stupid money is impossible.
I think most people have the silver one painted chrome.
997-559-443-01 Black and 997-559-443-00 Silver. Price is $49.95 each through Suncoast and obviously you need quantity 2.
