Front LEDs - coming from Orange Tuning

Hey fellas - received my rear LEDs yesterday to be swapped into 08 targa4s. Emailed Frank at OrangeTuning and these front LEDs will be released within a few weeks. I couldn't attach all so I created a picasa google link:

Just removed link since our Ynot posted them - thank you....

Great stuff, thanks for sharing, people are lazy to click on links here so I will post your pics here for all to see. Looks very similar to what Ray at Rotec is selling. I wonder if it's the same manufacturer?

Not sure, but it looks like the 'position' I will be in most of the time as it looks the best.

How are the DRLs activated? Currently it is implemented as a PCM menu option that turns on the headlights. I'm not clear on how these LED DRLs would be controlled without a wiring change. If they are to use the current fog light switch, doesn't it require the headlights to be on simultaneously?

LOL. In all honesty, these LEDs look ok. Looks more aftermarket like, and not OEM. Will reserve judgements until more pics are forthcoming.

I believe "Position Lights" are referred to in the US as Parking lights. From the 911 Manual....

Parking light
  • The parking light can only be switched on when the ignition is switched off.
  • Move the turn signal lever up or down to switch on the right or left parking light.

Not exactly, you can actually turn the fog lights on when the parking lights are switched on, one position before headlights.

Thanks, but that makes it sound like parking/position lights are the same as indicator (turn signal, right?) lights. In this design, it looks like there are 3different items. And - what about fogs? I'm so confused. I'm sure it will all become clear once they're tested, though...

so..

indicator = turn signal
DRL = DRL
and
position lights = parking lights ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_lighting
Front position lamps (parking lamps, standing lamps)

Nighttime standing-vehicle conspicuity to the front is provided by "front position lamps",[15] known as "parking lamps" or "parking lights" in North America,[5] and "front sidelights" in British English.

so where is the fog lights?

So, with this aftermarket LED DRL unit, the fogs are eliminated?
