Radar/Laser Interceptor Installation in Dallas?

Need suggestions for installer in DFW area. Have new GTS that I need to have hardwired either V1 or Passport 9500 (haven't decided) and Laser Interceptor I already have.

Thanks in advance.

The Steele Shop

2410 Tarpley Road
Carrollton, TX 75006
(972) 478-8000

They do a lot of the installs for the Porsche dealerships and RAC (aka RUF), they know their way around a Porsche and do quality work. They just installed a K40 in my 997 a couple of weeks ago.

Talk to Joe or Bob and tell them that Mike Blaze referred you.

Not about the installer, just about having a K40 installed.

It might be tough to get your interceptor installed since it will be illegal 2 days from now.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTIONA1.
Subchapter K, Chapter 547, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 547.616 to read as follows:

Sec.A547.616.RADAR INTERFERENCE DEVICES; OFFENSE. (a) In
this section, "radar interference device" means a device, a
mechanism, an instrument, or equipment that is designed,
manufactured, used, or intended to be used to interfere with,
scramble, disrupt, or otherwise cause to malfunction a radar or
laser device used to measure the speed of a motor vehicle by a law
enforcement agency of this state or a political subdivision of this
state, including a "radar jamming device," "jammer," "scrambler,"
or "diffuser." The term does not include a ham radio, band radio,
or similar electronic device.

(b)A person, other than a law enforcement officer in the
discharge of the officer ’s official duties, may not use, attempt to
use, install, operate, or attempt to operate a radar interference
device in a motor vehicle operated by the person.

©A person may not purchase, sell, or offer for sale a
radar interference device to be used in a manner described by
Subsection (B).

(d)A person who violates this section commits an
offense. An offense under this subsection is a Class C
misdemeanor.

SECTIONA2.This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.

Better get in installed quick. Come Friday it will be illegal to sell, install, or use.
Easy to install yourself if you take your time. Front bumper will more than likely need to come off. Good time to clean the rads while you are there. Get it tested once you get it installed. Head placement and alignment is critical.
Check the Radar Rob site from help with your install. I am sure someone there will offer to help.
Yes K40 sucks dog *****.

Yikes!!! Looks like that was a waste of money! Guess I will keep it in the garage in the box where it has been for 6 months waiting for me to decide on a car!

No need to fear yet. If you do get it installed just do NOT jam all the way to the gun. Some guys in Plano kept screwing with some cops and that is why the law was passed. You slow down, turn it off, and let them get your speed you will more than likely be OK. Have them install the park sensor mode switch so if you do get pulled you can show them it is a parking sensor.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everybody's got one and obviously you and some other members have some BIG opinions. The OP was asking about installation of his radar and LI, nothing else.

As for my install, you know nothing of the details, and neither I nor the OP was asking for your opinion on my install either. I will save my opinion of the K40 for the for the appropriate thread and I would suggest that others do the same.

@ tsmithmdtx I still stand behind my recommendation of the Steele Shop for any stereo or radar installation needs.

And in the words of John Henson...Big *****

I have a K40 system installed. Came with the car. PURE CRAP. My V1 smokes it. I have the K40 on HWY and the V1 on Big L. V1 kills it by seconds everytime.
Just my 2 cents.

It's all good... I can take the comments but I just didn't want them taking away from your thread... talking about radars is like talking about religion, people are highly opinionated.

And for the record I am testing a K40 rl360 (the prior model K40 calibre sucked dog *****), so far this model is a huge improvement but like I said, I will leave my opinions on the appropriate thread.

I just talked to the installer and if you want your LI installed you better do it in the next couple of days, after that installation will be illegal in TX

That is probably the most important thing I have learned from this thread. Decided to bail on installation and have listed it for sale on eBay if anyone interested!

You will be very happy just to install a V1 radar.

You dont need a jammer.

Can't imagine driving mine without it. I hardwired it to my M5 and 997 and it doubled my daily driving pleasure.
