997.2 Split Roof Targa? (Pics)

Was just checking out the photos of this past weeks C&C and noticed this custom 997. Does anyone have details or more photos? Looks like a Ruf car

Kind of makes one weep for the murder of a perfectly good 997 Cab!

I for one am not a big fan, but the guy paid a pretty penny for it and I'm pretty sure he's somewhat proud of it. What if he's a board member...comments like that are fighting words no?

Dunno.. if a guy is so sensitive that he wants to roll in the mud over an innocent comment in a Porsche forum, then I'd say he has bigger issues that lopping the top off a 997.

My comment was in jest.. I'll go back and add the smiley face so (some) guys won't be so easily offended..

The good news, in this case, is it's a Ruf car...I'm guessing that was built as a styling exercise, rather than for someone to his/her design spec.

And, given that mods are often a highly personal thing, I'm generally with you on erring on the side of caution and respect.

I'm with NC on this one though. It's hard to imagine someone stepping away from this creation and thinking they'd done one up on the styling department at Porsche. Being a glass half full guy, however, I hope that because of this car there are more people aware that early Targas were soft rear window and it remained an option on early cars at least through 1969.

IMO, the worst part is...

"To add insult to injury, they want $250k for it. Hell the Excaliber from 1979 looks better visually balanced. Sorry Ruf, you’re better off sticking to engine tuning."

NC, don't get me wrong on this...I do agree with your comment, but just don't have the heart to speak my comments
