Great news? What for?

1 - a fun-killing, Panamera-like long wheelbase
2 - a dumbed-down electric steering assist
3 - an electric push-button e-brake
4 - a GT-like Panamera-like interior
5 - an S with forced bling 20" rims
6 - an obnoxious sunroof option
7 - an overly creased broken-line rear hatch and rear
8 - a bunch of feel-filtering electronic add-ons such as PDCC
9 - an overall big-feeling car.

What's there to like?

It's about time for an updated avatar. Your car doesn't look like that anymore.

Anyone else get the feeling he doesn't like the 991?

Just kidding, I agree with you for the most part, but I will wait to pass my judgment on it after I get a chance to drive it. As of right now, I'm not liking what I am seeing.

So, one good thing, for those of us with kids, the 991 will FINALLY have standard LATCH anchors for the rear!

I'm sure I'll like the new car better after I put eyes on one.. but for now I'm pretty happy that I have a 997.

Don't get me started on my 991 perspectives. If you haven't already noticed, there's a campaign in my name to discredit the 991 in the name of the almighty 997!

Just to be clear: I do not discredit the 991. It is a great car. My point is that it is a pronounced inflection point in the 911 evolution which moves it farther from the original concept. If one loves the original car, the 991 is not so good. Those who do not care about the original car and are just after a fantastic GT, the 991 is for them.

Well, I'm one of those who is quite excited about the 991 and I've continually owned a Porsche for the past 40 years (the 991 will be my 18th, I think).

Have a different question - anyone else having trouble getting the 3D configurator to work? 2D is fine, but 3D doesn't seem to load properly

Amen. There may be "advances" but I just don't like the bigger, GT packaging. Blech. I also don't like the 991 console. Blech again.

You forgot to mention, the engine start/stop feature.
I guess you're never buying one huh? No more positive comments in the future?

You must have driven one, how do you know it has an "overall big-feeling"?? Or is this just your un-proven opinion/speculation
