Rennline puts out a nice kit that includes all the stuff (ie. vent w/ optional wire mesh and of course a cutting template). Check out their web site; there's a video showing how it's done.

Nah . . . Too many driveways, speed bumps, parking curbs, etc to worry about. Even w/ a 'standard' 997 bumper it's still hard to avoid the occasional scrape/rub.

That's why the bottom lip is so cheap to replace.

Sorry for the ignorance but did you do this all yourself with the install kit? Can you cut threw the plastic fairly easily? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Rennline sells the metal template (for their vent) tool that you attach (to your bumper cover) and follow the cutout pattern w/ your 'jig saw'. The plastic cuts really easy. Go to the Rennlist web site and view the video to clear up any questions.

I did the entire job by myself in my garage. The 'hard' part is taking the bumper cover off if you've never done it before. There are plenty of DIY's on the various Porsche blogs that show how to do it. It was my first time and it was fairly easy & straightforward. I just took my time and made sure I didn't break any fasteners or plastic parts.

If you have questions send an PM and I'll try to answer them.

Good Luck . . . . .

Thanks for doing that. I have the vent also, but wondered what it would look like on my black 06 cab. Could you take some more pics and post when you have time?

thanks

I don't anything is actually vented on a 997S front end. I suspect on a GT3 the vent serves a purpose by providing a bit of down force (allowing air to escape over the hood area) or maybe cooling for the radiators.

On a 997S it's merely cosmetic.
