What would be a fair purchase price for this 2011 997 Carrera S?

What would be a fair purchase price for this 2011 997 Carrera S? The warranty was started November 2010 because the dealer "punched" the car for "sales numbers?" but is still considered new (ODO has 38 miles on it).

White 911 Carrera S - 90,500.00
Black Standard Leather - 0.00
PDK - 4080.00
19" 911 Turbo II Wheels - 890.00
Sport Chrono Package Plus - 1480.00
Logo on Center Console - 330.00
12-Way Power Seats - 0.00
Comfort Package - 1750.00
Self Dimming Mirrors - 0.00
Heated Seats (front) - 0.00
Infotainment Package - 3010.00
Ext. Navigation Mod - PCM 3.0 - 0.00
Bose Surround Sound System - 0.00
XM Satellite Radio Receiver - 0.00

Total Options - 102.040.00
Total Charges (Destination) - 950.00
Total Order - 102.990.00

Should I insist that the dealer "throw in" an extended warranty to cover the lost year due to the new car warranty starting in November 2010?

Thanks in advance for any input...

For sure, you should get a big discount and/or an extention on the warranty. Just wondering if this would be considered a CPO, since it technically is "used".

If they can CPO it, it's literally a longer warranty than new car. I'd think that's worth more than the fact you are "second owner" when it comes time to resale.

White on black and it has been sitting around? kind of surprising given that it is nicely equipped. Another 2011 leftover, but this one its really old. Doubt they will CPO it.

My company has an agreement with Jim Ellis (jimellisdirect.com) and the Porsche brand falls under that umbrella and I am supposed to get a good discount. I emailed the salesperson back and ask about CPO'ing the car and he said "No, the warranty started on Dec 1st, 2010, but that’s the extra consideration on the price, now if you were going to keep it, you can spend $2900 and get it certified, $2500 for cost of warranty and $400 for inspection." $400 to inspect a car with 38 miles on it? C'mon...

I have the walking power as I don't have to buy right now, I just know new 2011 Carrera S and 4S are going to become harder to find at dealers willing to deal. I was also hoping that because of the agreement between my company and JimEllisDirect.com, that my purchase would be hassle free and the best price regardless of where I looked, new or used.

I would think that deals are to be had at this point- end of summer and new 911 variant coming out.

I would do an internet search and I bet you can get some smoking deals. On a brand new car (even a lightly used one), I never felt the need to actually see the car before buying it.

Be a bit wary of deal agreements. The floor on the "best price" is invoice. The dealer will be hard pressed to sell the car at a loss, so invoice is the floor. BUT, invoice is also the floor on a brand new car, unpunched. Right now, you should be able to get a 2011 UNPUNCHED at $500 over invoice (not saying this is possible though, but it should be). Due to the compromised state of the car, I'm not sure it is possible to really get value out of the car and any benefit for the 1 year's lost warranty. IF the car is the color and equipment you want, I would offer invoice and ask them to show you the invoice - and realize you've left some on the table. Keep in mind you are also eating one year's depreciation on the car. After you roll off the lot, it is simply a low miles, last year's model car.

When I bought my 07 C4S last month, it still had it's original warranty (1 week left) and I was able to get a factory extended warranty w/o having to be CPO'd. That maybe another route.

I wonder if this car did not receive a factory to dealer cash incentive? I know at year end the factory will make some money available to dealers to sell out their existing inventory. In order to qualify, they will internally sell the car or punch it as you said. In CA the incentive would range between ~$10,000 to ~$20,000 for S - 4S depending on the MSRP (exclud GT's and TT's). If you can find that number it will give you a starting point from which to negotiate (don't forget to factor in the ~ 1 yr depreciation it has already received just sitting on the lot too). Good luck.

I would be interested in a correction. It seems to me though that the floor is invoice. If they got the incentive money, that would certainly lower the floor. That is interesting. So, you start at invoice and expect to go lower. Invoice should be available on Edmunds for the car you are looking for.

+1 . This is spot on !!!

To The OP -
It does seem off that a nicely equipped white/black just happens to be sitting unsold. Why they "punched" the car is their problem .. but it does reveal that for almost one year a a lot of possible buyers looked at it and passed it by .

In my opinion .. if a person is buying a new car .. it ought to come with ZERO doubts .

UPDATE:

Given the fact that the car has already lost one year warranty on the lot and the car has 38 miles on the clock I made the dealer an offer on the car that included CPO ($2500, 6 yrs., 100K starting 11/30/10, day orig. warr. was started), inspection for CPO ($400), doc fees ($399) and Clear Bra on front hood and fenders for $82,500. I'll have to pay sales tax in my state of course and either pay to ship it or fly there and take delivery and drive it home (Atlanta to Ohio). That puts it in my garage somewhere between $88,000 - $89,000 depending on how I get the car to Ohio.

If they reject or counter, the search continues...

UPDATE #2:

The dealer rejected my offer, countered with $86,500 but will not include CPO ($2900), Doc Fees ($399) or Clear Bra ($???). Basically, they are around $90,000 without taxes. I'm going to pass on this one and keep looking.

Money is still in my pocket and the car is still on their lot.

I believe you. I saw the description on their website and saw the same 786 miles on the ODO. Emailed the salesperson about it and he assured me that it had 38. Something isn't right...

Hi OhioLefty, please don't take this the wrong way, the car your looking at has 740 miles on it, not 38 miles and is a Porsche Executive Car. Matter of fact, there are five Porsche 911's that are PEC's. I think that the price can be had for the car somewhere in the $84-85,000 range. The car is punched due to again the car coming from Porsche Corp Offices, which is not really a big deal, unless you can get them to have the car CPO'd. I have dealt with Ryan in the past and I will say his prices are right on the money and you are getting a great deal from them. Ryan is the big wig salesman for the SouthEast Region, and again look and see what i'm talking about. Also, I live in NJ and have bought 3 cars from that dealership and I must say, ZERO ISSUES!! Good Luck.

Joe
