I'm a big fan of tint, it keeps your car cool in the summer, it gives you privacy when you want it. And it looks pretty menacing (cool) on a black car. I don't really care if people see me, in fact, I go to place where there are no one. (back roads)

If you want the heat and IR rejection benefits of tint, but are not sure of the look, there are nano and ceramic technology tints out there that are nearly clear and MAY even be legal in some states on the windshield.

They are a great compromise and the AC works much more efficiently.

I love tint on cars but I am not a fan of Tint on a Cabriolet. If you are one of the folks that will ride with top down and windows up I think it would look odd if they were tinted. Just my 2cents. Maybe someone with a tinted cab can post a pic so you can preview the look.

2nd!

It depeds what you need and where you live. Here in Vegas a tint is a must, even my windshield is tinted (clear). It is a night and day difference when entering a car that has been sitting out on the sun all day.

That's cause you're in Jersey. Here on the west coast it is not for fashion, rather that for survival. No joking...

Temperatures outside are sometimes in 130s and inside the cars in the sun get way over 150 degrees!

The people who drive around with the top down and windows up look odd with or without tint! Around here they are either 90+ years old or some bimbo with 10 pounds of hairspray and 50 pounds of makeup. It's very sad.

I live in Scottsdale, so tint is a must. In the summer here, it gets too hot to put the top down on a cab! I use the nano tint as it's better at rejecting heat and doesn't make the car look like a mafia limo.

The guys at Premer told me that the winsheild is approx. 85% from the factory and they sell a 73% DCIR film. I tinted mine 33% all around and when I tinted the winshield a year later with 73% it made a huge difference.

My 997 is Midnight Blue with the Metropol blue top and the windows were tinted when I bought it and I love the looks and functionality. It is not the darkest tint, so maybe that is why I like it, which means I can see out with the windows up and sunglasses on. None of my previous 911s have had tinting and I can tell the difference in temperature, especially here in FLA.

Given your location, I say no tint. Heck, I live in TX, and I do not tint my cars. I think it takes away from the clean looks of the car.
