Read any review of an 09 carrera with PDK and you will get your answers.

From to of my head: Launch control, faster shifts, more gears, dual clutch vs. standard auto...

The bottom line that while the tip is a fine automatic, there is simply no comparison with the PDK

Whoever said Tip is better than PDK doesn't know what they're talking about.....maybe if you're ending up modding the car(I've heard it's stronger), but stock for stock PDK is miles ahead of Tip.

I have an '08 C2S Tip. Desperately wish I'd have gotten an '09 PDK. Minimal diff in price, all things considered.

dweintra is infamous around these parts
I just got a Boxster loan car with PDK and I loved the feel of it. The rev matching makes all the difference int he world. It is however jerkier off the line unless you are very light on the pedal. My wife drove it and hated it compared to the tiptronic Carrera tranny we have. I prefer the PDK.

It's rather simple: TIP is a traditional slush box automatic and PDK is a dual clutch computer operated manual tranny that not's really a manual tranny. See?

+1. Own a tip, test drove a PDK. There's a chasm btwn them. They're both transmissions. Similarity ends there.

Pdk shifts instantaneously (.07 sec or so) while with Tip there is a delay, something like .4 secs or something.

But in all honesty it's really your opinion that counts. Have you driven either?

yes, just sold a turbo tip, miss the shifting, sometimes, the delay

in shifting didn't concern me so much, not racing, so...i just wonder that the PDK is ultimately a tip with no delay...i had an audi that i supercharged and then had the trans chipped by GIAC and that sped up the shifts, but i am sure that it was no where near the PDK, guess i just better go drive one...thanks, for the reply

I've tried manual, PDK, and tip in several Porsches. Manual is my favorite, PDK is very good for an automated transmission, and I didn't like tip at all.

The duel clutch technology means that the next gear is ready...I think along with instant shifts PDK shifts are smoother and come on at better points for better performance.
