pdk aftermarket exhaust
pdk aftermarket exhaust
Hey, anyone with an 09+ 911S upgrade their exhaust without getting the dreaded drone? FVD has a "pdk" branded setup and there's the Tubi package. Both look like they have the 3rd muffler delete/ bypass. Any opinions on either company? Thanks so much,
Mike

FVD makes a very nice system specifically for the PDK cars. There's a great review online from a member. The Tubi is also a very good system which most including myself feel there is no drone. I had the Tubi on my 09 C2S.
Results? A very healthy sounding exhaust with zero interior drone. Not loud enough to get the attention of the sound police, but noticeably throatier than the stock sound. Most say it is comparable to the PSE. I was going back and forth on aftermarket exhausts until I did this mod. My only complaint is that I waited so long to do it.
Many here have done this mod, however some feel the "Hack" is an abomination laid at the alter of Porsche. I however, find that you don't have to spend mega $$ to get a great sounding exhaust.
Have the FVD crossover pipe and OEM PSE mufflers with baffles open...sounds great and no drone.

The RPMs at cruising speed in a PDK are lower than a 6 speed. Drone in some systems tends to be right in the 65-70 mph range. Some people simply drop a gear and maintain their speed to avoid the drone.
I had Tubi on my 09 Carrera S PDK...zero drone...none at all....stock like quiet at idle and highway cruising. Tubi opens up at around 4000rpm and has a brash raspy type of sounds.
I currently have the so called non PDK side muffler delete rear muffler on my GTS PDK. Car sounds like a Cup car. This exhaust is the ONLY exhaust approved for Rolex Grand Am Porsches! Extremely well made. It does sound a lot louder than stock...great track exhaust but drones some and for a every day car would be a little much.
The FVD exhaust which has the side mufflers and the one for PDK sounds awesome and has no drone.

RPMs are only lower if you let it. I do not consider PDK an auto - I'm always in control and never let it run below 2kRPM.
