Question about a new rim/tire package....
Question about a new rim/tire package....
WELL......my birthday is a few short days away, and I think I'm going to give myself a new set of rims/tires for my 997S Cab. It needs new tires anyway so, what the heck right?? :-)
In any case, I was debating whether to put 20" rims or stick to the 19" rims. I will be adding HR springs, so the car will be lowered by about 1.2 inches, and I thought the 20" wheels would give the car a more aggressive stance, and sleeker appearance, but I really do not want to compromise the "feel" of the ride.
As always, I turn to the fine members of this forum for advice and recommendations regarding my decision, especially those of you (if any) who have had both sizes of rims on their vehicles. Pros? Cons? Any input is welcome!
Thanks!!!

I am afraid that both of your suggested mods will increase the stiffness at each corner. These will only make the car ride rougher. The question is how rough will you accept. If at all possible, find someone with either of the mods and go for a ride. I've changed the suspensions on my 911s several times and was once so disappointed in the ride, I went back to stock. When I caught myself flinching at phone pole shadows on the road, bracing for the jolt, I knew I had gone way to far. This on a Porsche X73 suspension that others "said" would be fine.
Yup. That's what I'm thinking also. I looked at a nice combo with COR wheels, the COR Ciphers in black. I plan on looking at some Champion wheels this week, but they are way more expensive than the CORs. It would be nice to keep the whole package (rims, tires, springs, all installed) for under $7k.
Ride comfort will change. Do you have the sport chrono package? If so put it in sport and drive like that for a day or so then decide. The sport mode may be a little firmer that just springs and 20's but you will get the basic idea.
I like both ideas but will tolerate the ride change. I think Victor equipment Zehn wheels in hyper silver look nice on the 997 cab, just an opinion.

99% decided on the Champion rims, RS98, with H&R springs. Planning on painting the rims gloss black, same color as my car. Will post pics when the deed is done!!!

unless ur car is a showcar, i would stick with the 19's like HRE or Champion
same 20's will be heavier and will give u a harsher ride on the streets.
(look into unsprung weight)
also i bought my HRE used here and saved a bundle.
($2800 including PS2 tires - thx again Tbone !)
if u can find a trusted seller, there are some good wheels for great price.
BOL !
