997 Carrera S sport exhuast?

Can anyone describe the difference in sound between the standard exhuast vs "sport exhaust" for the 997 S?

As an aftermarket change I would imagine the various tuners can/will provide a literal "bigger bang for the buck". I'm toying with getting a 997 S Cab, but with the CGT awesome exhaust note I'm afraid the standard exhuast may appear anemic. I've heard it, and it sounds nice (especially compared to the 996), but a low rumble at idle would improve on this.

Why a 997 S Cab?; my wife loves the sun, but finds the CGT to extreme, especially if going shopping

Thnx in advance for your comments.

you probably won't get that much power from just an aftermarket exhaust on the M97 block.

most tuners cliam gains, but they are mostly ubsubstantiated.

the porsche OEM sport exhaust is the only one that will change the sound AND garuantee no loss of power.

it makes the car sound like the air cooled engines of ye old times.

My wife's my best friend, the mother of our 3 kids, and in fact I took her last name when we got married 16 years ago. She's a phenomenal beautiful woman and a Plastic Surgeon as well.

I'll bag the CGT first

Thnx for the info Moogle. Your description of the old air cooled as a comparison is easy to imagine.

Let me get this straight, you took her last name? Does she have your ********* in a vice or something?

No, she has my heart in a vice

FYI, I spent 4 years in the Special Froces ('76-80) Operational Detachment Team Alpha (ODA) 333, 10th Group. Not bragging just noting that the wimp factor is at zero. Also taught my wife how to drive a stick, and she has enjoyed our cars, driving them passionately ('01 M5 Dinan, '01 996 C4, '04 996 TT w/ X50). Just that you can't zip around the corner in the CGT to do anything w/o having protracted (& pleasant) conversations with everyone from the street sweeper to the mechanical engineering majors (we live near Georgia Tech).

For clarification we took each others names; Boots & Taylor = Bootstaylor. Did it in fact before fininishing medical school so we could leave MD's off of the invitation (I'm a doc too).

Being from California (hence Carmel; paradise on earth) we're just low-keyed that way

Why is it that everyone suggests getting rid of a wife? I guess a certain amount of jealousy for those of us who have found an excellent mate.

I know mine has helped me to achieve greater success than I would have alone. Kind of like a good coach.

As the saying goes, behind every successful man is a woman *****ing.

I am personally more than happy to take the constructive criticism.

Take it with a grain of salt, I doubt he is going to leave his wife over a sarcastic post on an internet forum and me suggesting something that extreme should in itself show you I was not serious.

Carmel,

Hats off to you for your SF service, I thought 333 was 3rd grp at Bragg, my son is an 18Delta with 3rd grp.
We appreciate all of you that wear the uniform.

Go for the 997S with PSE, youll' like it, especially the cab.

Side note: Why would you leave Carmel for Atlanta?

911 flyn,

FYI, each SF group has ODA's in them, ~ 20 - 30 teams, and they are numbered randomly. ODA 333 may also be in the 3rd Group at Bragg. Nice to hear that your son's on a Delta Team; awesome and congrats to you.

Re Carmel, my professional career took me to NYC, then Atlanta, which is like Carmel compared to NY .

Also I keep Carmel in my heart as well, it's my daughter's middle name and my Vanity plate.
