After getting XM for my home I decided to want to activate it on my 997.2, I know I've seen the SAT setting in there before and tuned it to the XM Preview station, but today I went into the PCM and it wasn't anywhere to be found. I checked through all the menus to see if I somehow disabled XM at some point but I don't see that. Does anyone know how I can get the SAT option back under Tuner? Thanks!

 

That is odd. I'd figure you can always get SAT under the tuner rotation (AM-FM-SAT) to at least see the 'preview' channel, and get the options screen up to get to the radio ID needed to get the subscription turned on.

 

I agree. I looked in the manual and all the menus tonight, there is no way to disable that SAT option from coming up. I'm going to my dealer for a 991 launch party tomorrow, I'll run it by their techs and I guess schedule an appointment. I think they did a software upgrade when they replaced my fuel pump and did a full inspection, so perhaps it was flashed incorrectly.

 

That may well be. If they set the system to not have SAT installed, what you are seeing would be the effect.

 

You do have option code 686, correct? I guess you must if you have had the Preview station show. Let us know that the tech says.

 

Any chance you've had any other work done? When I had my PDK paddle wheel installed I had the same problem. Lost the satellite radio and navigation. The dealer had to do something with the codes to enable both,

 

Have you had any work done on the PCM or had the unit replaced?
I had a problem early on and took it back to Porsche. They replace the unit and when I wanted to activate the XM radio I couldn't get the Sat radio to show on the screen. I called Porsche and explained that it was missing on the menu and their response was "that if I wanted the option of XM radio I should have paid for it when I bought the car". I grabbed the work sheet on the new car and went to the agency demanding my money back for the Sat. radio since they charged me for it when the car was new...
I don't think they replaced the PCM unit but I had the option of XM sat. when they were through with car.

 

XM at time of purchase is pretty easy to identify.. see if the sat radio antenna is on the car (where it is varies from coupe, to cab to targa, but it will be visible).

If you have the factory installed antenna, the car was built with the sat radio, and thus has the right PCM circuit board and whatnot to make it go.

Now if other things were changed or added, the right activation codes need to be put into the PCM to get all things up and running again. But SAT should not disappear from one day to the next without someone being inside the electronics and settings of the car (turning something else on or off etc via codes).

It could be that some hardware failed though.

Reviving this thread. What you described sounds like what I'm dealing with on my new-to-me '09 Cayenne GTS. Did a re-flash fix the problem?
