Hi All --

I just picked up a "new" '08 Targa C4S... extremely happy with the purchase.
Previous owner was really nice and took great car of the car.

I'm new to the forum and would like to know the recommended mods for this year... I like to know the mods for lighting, appearance and performance.

Thanks for your help!

Hey congratulations!! Wow, that's the first white targa that I've seen! Very cool!! I have a red one and love the light!

Ok, first Get some Q-Tips and some McLube and clean the targa roof rails. If yours was like mine, there is probably a bunch of nasty gunk in there and it has never been done. Here is a link to a thread on it:

Second consider a Gundo Hack on your mufflers. Porsche Sport Exhaust have a link between the muffler inlet and outlet that can be opened or closed. The Gundo Hack is the same thing but open always, but costs $300 vs. $3,000 and sounds terrific. Here is a link to a Gundo Hack thread:

Consider adding iPod and Blue Tooth with a Dension or other unit.

I'm also adding a B&M short throw shifter to mine in a week. Others like the OEM short throw shifter. Here's a link to a thread that discusses both:

Congratulations!!!

Thanks for the recommendation. It only has 4.5K miles and has navigation, triptronic, upgraded sound system, sports chrono, turbo wheels, red calibers, full leather, bluetooth, etc.. Pictures to come!

Very sweet set up! What unit is the blue tooth? I am assuming because of it being an 08, it is a 997.1.

4,500 miles is nothing! Mine just turned 40,000 miles and I'm planning to drive her to 100,000! Are you going to drive it as a daily driver? I've seen many comments that the best thing you can do to maintain a Porsche is to drive it aggressively, a lot! That's a responsibility I enjoy!

I'd like to upgrade the rear taillights to LED.
I think the bluetooth was a factory option on the car

The sports chrono package on a 2008... what does it actually do? I know the suspension tightens up and the throttle is more responsive. What else?

That's all it does. Throttle is more responsive and you can stiffen the suspension.

I would get clear side markers - especially on white. They look great and will probably be the least expensive thing that you do.

I had an 07 T4S in GT Silver. Loved that car. I put on a PSE, X51 headers and high flow cats. The sound was fabulous, as well as adjustable of course with the PSE. I added a Dension unit, clear sidemarkers, short shifter, etc. Of course, with Tip, you don't need short shifter. Oh yes, I replaced the Carrera Sport wheels with Champion RG5B. To me the wheels made the biggest improvement in the look of the car. The guy that bought the car from me (without my Champion wheels) has added LED tail lights and front fogs, as well as replaced all the interior bulbs with LEDs. But remember, these cars are so gorgeous, you really don't have to do anything to enjoy them immensely. One thing I didn't do to the Targa but did to my current cab was install Damptronics and lower the car about 3/4". That improves the look a lot too. Almost forgot, I also tinted the rear windows.

Enjoy that lovely car.

The usual bolt-on mods

Wheels - better looks with reduced weight (if forged)
Exhausts - better sound with added performance

Let us know if we can help!
