Blond moment... finally figured out how to properly use my cupholders.
I've had my car going on ten months now. Yesterday, I accidentally figured out how to work the cup holders. I closed the cup holder flap while the passenger side cup holder was still open. I never realized that the flap is what stabilized the cup holder arms from swaying around while I drive. I always thought that Porsche wanted me to drive extra careful while I'm using the cupholder. That was my AhHa moment for the day! Don't laugh at me.

I did the same thing with my first car until a more experienced Porsche guy showed me what to do! My problem is that the flap does not always close properly. This is true in both my 997.1 cars. I have to play with it to get it to close rather than just flop open. My C4S was replaced under warranty, but I have not dealt with the GT3 yet.

Lucky, did the same thing when I got my GT2. Had just moved to Denver, got the car out for the first drive ever, and while out decided to get some monster-sized swimming pool of a drink. I put that sucker in the drink holder, went out to the main street and turned left, where my drink went rotating waaaaaaaaayyyyyy over to the right side of the car. I freaked, thinking that in the first 1/2 hour of driving my car that I was about to dump 40 oz. of whatever all over. Luckily it had a lid on it and didn't fall out of the holder. I quickly learned about the tab in the middle.... whew.

LOL!!!!
Thanks for enlightening me/us. I thought it was just their way of saying "Hey, you stupid Americans, here's your damn cup holder...but you're still gonna spill your coffee...(ha, ha, ha)"

I can't imagine anyone actually taking a 40oz drink into a 911. I suppose we Americans deserve the 'praise' we sometimes receive from Europeans.
The guy(s) who sold you the car(s) should have shown you how to work the cup holder during the delivery (especially if you bought the car new).

@NC997,
not to worry, not a redneck situation or anything like that! Had just gone out to enjoy my first ride in the new car, stopped to admire it from the outside and enjoy a cold drink at the same time. Sort of a "celebration" for all the challenges experienced in getting this new car delivered and getting to Denver. Still had some drink left when I wanted to get back in so I thought "hey, it's got a cup holder - GT2 drivers can enjoy a beverage while rolling too." That's when I realized that the cupholder has a "step 2." LOL.

Here:

It is nicely made. The base has an adjustment ring that allows it to expand into the cup holder to keep it tight.
