Targa 4s 2007 - rear camera options

Hi, just wondering if anyone would have in on the availability on a rear view camera? I have much difficulty parking without thing I'm going to hit something. I only drive about 2000 miles per year and never get the chance to get 100% familiar with the cars dimensions.

Thx for the input

The only way to have a camera is through a new head unit that has a camera hook up, or you can buy those remote ones that they sell for pick ups and maybe mount behind the rear window...but I think that would not look nice.

I have a camera on my F250 through my Pioneer Head Unit, and I'm going to put that in my 07 4S and have a camera for that one too.

There are shops out there that can mount a camera and hook it up to you PCM. It's not the cheapest but the cleanest in my opinion. Cost me about $600 for parts and labor.

I had a local shop in Los Angeles install it. It was recommended to me by my dealership. Can't remember the brand of camera used, but I know they installed a mObridge for my bluetooth and ipod intergration. I'm guessing any reputable shop that deals with Porsche should be able to do it. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have installed the bluetooth and ipod integration, but the backup camera I would do.

Set one of your memory seat positions identical to your normal driving position, but with the passenger side mirror adjusted as far down as possible and also towards the car. I have a small garage and this really helps me maneuver into my parking spot. It also helps when parallel parking. If you leave the mirror adjustment **** set to one of the side positions, the car will automatically dip that mirror when you shift into reverse. I occasionally use this for the driver side mirror. The auto dip function doesn't bring the mirror towards the car so it's not as effective as the manual setting.

The laser interceptor sensors aren't really functional.

Parking Aid Mode

Would you like to have a simple parking aid which beeps when a solid object is in front of the unit? Maybe you only want to use the LI as a parking unit? This feature is built in.

Mine only stays on for about 30 seconds and then says parking aid is disabled. My install guy said that is when it switches to detection mode. Maybe mine is set up incorrectly, but it only is a parking sensor when it is first turned on.

Hey CrazyCarlitos, I was concerned my system wasn't set up correctly so I asked Cliff at LI:

I bought my Laser Interceptor last fall. The parking assist turns off after 30 seconds with the comment "parking aid is disabled". Is it supposed to do that? *Can I use it as a true parking aid?

His response was:

During the first 10-30 seconds after start up, the LI is in the Parking Sensor Mode. After the this period and once you hear that alert, the LI is then in the JAM Mode.*Please remember the LI is first and foremost a JAMMER and the PA functionality was never designed to be a replacement for nor is it as accurate as an OEM PA nor do we sell the LI as a PA.
