Last generation of real fun?
I wouldn't worry about fun. Boys will be boys, whether they have to throw wheels on a rusty frame, pull a few wires out, or drink a little something, or break a few laws, they'll find a way to have some fun.
I have to agree with you, Manifold. I would say that Porsche is doing the best job, but I am bothered by the interaction of two trends:
- I can't agree with Alan that the changes are market driven any longer. Every design engineer pays attention to the market or becomes unemployed, but the front end of the design requirements phase is uniformly legislation. Across the entire industry, legislative mandates set the agenda. Then, within the limits of their technology, the various design teams try to satisfy their target market. That is a long way from market-driven design.
Well, just saying.
I took the step yesterday and sat in a 991, I am 6'5" 240 lbs and I will say their is more leg room and head room than my 2011 C4S.
Then I took another step and drove it ( what was I thinking, I have 3900 miles on mine !! ) Zero road noise, easy steering, nice engine sound.
It didn't FEEL as quick as mine, I didn't like looking at the pointed front fenders compared to the 997 rounded thru the windshield, Rear view mirror has a funky shape.
Long story short, I am sure it is better, but I have ZERO buyers remorse with my 2011.
True Story.
