New shoes!

Just added myself to the growing list of Michelin Pilot Super Sport users. I had PS2s that were worn right down to the cords in the rear - I deliberately left them on for the winter to get every last mile out of them. Fronts are still good, so I just did the rears and left the PS2's in front. It's not a fair comparison because the old ones were worn so badly, but my first impression is that it sounds like I pressed the mute button! Very quiet on the highway, and less harsh as well. In fact, I had developed an annoying resonance in the center console near the ashtray, and that was gone with the new tires!

My local tire store has a Top Gear style leader board with lap times for High Plains Raceway near us - helps ease the pain of the $999 bill for 2 tires to see my local PCA buds listed

I'll miss the instant sideways action I could achieve with the old tires, but it's nice to have proper rubber again.

Im in the same boat, I have 3 plugs in my rears. I was debating if I should do the same in just changing just the rear (front is ok), but I guess it works.

THREE PLUGS! I'd serious consider buying new tires, you're flirting with safety at this point. I'd be worried to drive that thing on the highway.

I just ordered Hankook V12 Evo Ventus tires. My rears are not that worn, but it appears my car had sat for a while before I purchased it and the tires are really hard and you feel it inside. I've debated the PS2's and the PSS as well as the Hankook's. I have PS2's on now and I'm ok with them, but since I'm not the original owner of the tires and I've but 8k on them I don't have a real judge of the wear and performance. I'm getting the Hankook's for $ 1052 for all 4, plus M & B. Can't argue with the pricing and I do more soft driving than real hard driving so maybe these will work out.

I'm getting them installed on Thursday so we will see how it goes. I can report back with my impressions on those.

Thanks

How many miles do you think were on the rears?

Not sure if that question was for me or Raiders, but I am fairly certain my rears were put on at about 13500 miles (right before I bought the car with CPO) and I have about 25000 now. So 12000 miles. Interestingly, the left rear is more worn than the right. And it's very worn as you can see!

Going to check alignment specs next week. I'm fairly happy with 11.5K miles, considering that includes a couple of track days, an autocross, and plenty of sideways shenanigans on the street.

Hard to say as the dealer could not tell me when the tires were put on. The rears have probably 5k more in miles at the most...but with them so hard and I have cuts in the sidewall...it's really time to change them.

I ran the tires a bit hard when I got the car...trying out the cars acceleration was fun, but abused the tires.

It's hard to find tires in my size...305's are not too common, so I had to wait 2 days to get them in...but that's not bad considering your 2 weeks. My installer says it took him awhile to find anyone who had them. I didn't check on the MPSS to see if they were available since I'm not going with them...but they are more popular than the Hankook's. We will see how they do.
