I was having a little issue with a rear window on my Caby not going up intermittently with the SmartTop module installed. We traced it to what was thought to be a loose connection. Pelican parts and mods4cars <makers of smartTop> sent me another one, only this one was a totally different module.

I emailed Stephan at Mods4Cars who said that the module for our cars was totally redesigned. I just installed the new unit and here are the changes:

-You no longer have to try and plug it into your main electrical box blind trying to line up the pins. Honestly, it was a pain. The module then sat under the unit and it could get unstable. You had to loosen the box and try and velcro it in place. No longer. It comes with a new wire harness that just plugs right in. It's now completely idiot proof. The module can now be placed just about anywhere as the wire harness is almost 6 inches long. It comes with a new velcro sticky that lets you just stick it to the cross bar laying flat. Trust me, it is completely stable now.

-Installation now is a snap...literally.

-Also new is a usb port...plus they send you a usb cable! You can just plug in your computer or laptop and insta download any upgrades to the firmware. This is a geewiz factor but it does everything I want it to now so I do see myself using it. Still, pretty cool.

-Lastly, they now have a little green LED light that flashes when you plug it in. If there are any issues with the unit, you know it by the LED. It was nice to see it blink blink blink then go off, telling me that it was all correctly connected.

Yup same price. Just make sure you get the new version. It comes with a wire harness and usb cable and has a black label. If yours doesn't come with that you got the old version.

Update on my new design smart top. It is still working great. No problems other then the occasional window that does not go up all the way, but that is not the smart top, it is the window pinch sensor. It only does it every once and a while so it's no big deal. You just hit the window button and it finishes going up. It is still hands down the best mod you can get for your caby.
