How to remove the fuel filler door on a 997?

Need to remove the fuel filler door so my painter can use it to colour match a few body parts (side sills, front lip) I'm having him done.

Appreciate any help.

Cheers

Here you go...

Depending on age, tabs can be a bit brittle and may snap. If so, new hinge is ~ $15-20 (US) - 997.201.063.00

Good luck

Why not use the bumper plug for the tow ring?

Resurrecting an old thread here - I've bought a new hinge for my fuel filler door, and swapped it for the old crackly one, but I'm having trouble getting the spring back into place properly. I can't seem to figure out how it was hooked before - google images isn't super helpful and I've been poking around on here and rennlist for a bit finding nothing conclusive.

Anyone on here done it before and know what I should be clipping the spring ends to?

I can't tell if it's meant to go all the way under the new hinge or what. The old one was broken so I didn't pay very close attention to what it was clipped to.

Let me know if you know, thanks!
- Dan

Pressed send too soon! haha. I figured it out. The spring clips onto the actual hinge itself, kind of all the way underneath, and the top bit has to grab right where the center locking piece slips through the filler door part. That is almost impossible to describe with words, but I will try and post some pix afterwards. It was driving me nuts there for a minute, but totally worth doing. Aside from the hassle with the spring, it was basically a 5 minute fix.
