Your mechanical abilities... List them!

Hi guys!

You know, if you can do an oil change or just a bulb change, list your abilities... maybe it can come handy next time you are doing something to your car and somebody near you has just done it too and can guide you!

here's what I can and have done...

• disassemble the door panel and install the door finishers/door lids and pulls
• oil/filter changes
• the whole center console and what's around
• parking brake assembly
• shiftknob
• center stack console
• pull apart the AC assembly and the sport/spoiler assembly
• Install seatbelts
• install steering wheel / airbag
• heater core
• complete brakes
• front bumper
• headlights / tail lights / foglights
• GT3 vent grille install

and some more I can remember....

now, what about you?

Long ago I deceided that I had two eyes good hands and more brains than most. I also could read. So with these skills I have done almost everthing you can do to a car. Once my cars are out of warrenty I do all maintanance and service. Growing up in a Auto Salvage yard and having a degree in EE doesn't hurt.

I've added oil a few times - didn't even make that much of a mess.

For full disclosure, I had a lot of help. But when all was said and done - wow. That was a lot of work.

I've taken the convertible top down and installed a SmarTop? It wasn't too hard, but it wasn't point and click either.

Here's my list:

- Spark plugs (by far, the most difficult auto job I've ever tackled...anyone else do this on a 997?)
- OEM SSK
- OEM XM
- Brake fluid

- All the filters
- E-brake replace
- Shift ****/boot replace

I think is cool to have this list... people could reference to it and ask questions to the members that have tackled the specific job...

I did it on my 996 not too bad with right snap on socket. Looked at my new 997.2 and it doesn't look fun!
