Ordered the Aerokit front bumper "thanks Suncoast"
Thanks Suncoast! Laurie at Suncoast helped get me a good shipping rate and has followed up with me to keep me in the loop. Excellent service so far.
The aerokit bumper was at the top of my list of mods but I honestly wasn't sure that I would do it. I've never been one to spend money on cosmetic mods. I've always been an all go no show kind of guy. But with this car for some reason I don't really have the urge to try and make it faster.
So anyway last Friday I decided to just go ahead and order it. It also helped me make up my mind on wheels. The sporty look of the bumper will go very nicely with a set of OZ ultraleggera's. I came very close to ordering the BC Forged wheels but decided that for nearly the same money I'd rather do the bumper and a less expensive set of wheels.
The package should be here today or tomorrow and I'll drop it off at the end of the week at the body shop.
Should I paint the lip body color or black? I was thinking black to keep the car from looking nose heavy, but at the same time I thought about doing it in sliver since it won't cost me any extra at this time. Then I could just buy a extra GT3 lip in black. To whomever these pics are I hope you don't mind that I vadered them.

yes and yes.
I want the aero kit (with the top gt3 vent) but since my car is black is not that dramatic of a change, since you won't be able to see a lot of detail...

I had mine painted atlas grey on the advice of the body shop and while it looked great initially, the wear and tear is starting to show. In the areas not affected, there are cracks in the paint from flexing. If you don't have to worry about driveways, speed bumps, sudden dips in the road and other such threats, you'll be fine. Which is to say, don't paint the splitter.
Anyone know if the GT3 lip a different material than the aerokit lip? The GT3 lip comes black but is it just painted or is black all the way through?
A lip that is flexible/rubberized plastic seems like it would fair better than something that is very stiff.

They are different materials... GT3 lip appears to be full color extruded/molded and is definitely more flexible (like the black mudflaps and liners in front of wheels). Aerokit lip is made of a PU material w/ rigidity similar to bumper cover.
That said, you could have the aerokit lip painted body color at first. Then, if it becomes scrapped up, you could pull it off and use a flat or textured black spray to refinish it. If it becomes scraped up more, just pull down again and touch it up.
Personally, I ordered both and will put GT3 lip on when doing track or driving into high risk situations where damage might occur to the painted one. It's held on mostly w/ tabs and a few screws.

i like the colored lip if u have the sideskirts already.
otherwise, the black looks great.
also i remember reading a thread about an inexpensive trim piece to protect the painted lip from scuffing up too quickly..

Sideskirts are stock. That's why I was a little worried about it looking nose heavy if I paint it body color. Without sideskirts to bring the body line lower the lip does not line up with the side exactly. It's not bad but it is noticeable. I think it would be exaggerated by the car not having a wing also.
I guess the best thing to do will be to ask the body shop how much extra it will cost to paint the lip black. If it's more than 1/2 the cost of just buying a black GT3 lip then I'll just have them do it in silver and buy an extra lip.
The bumper got here today. HUGE box BTW, and when I say huge I mean it's about the size of a refrigerator.
Suncoast's service is excellent. They shipped it yesterday and it got here in one day.

LOL - yeah, I was going to mention box size to you earlier but didnt want to ruin the surprise
Hope you have a pick-up or full size van/suv for haul to body shop.
FWIW, just have shop paint lip body color now. You can always hit it w/ basic flat black paint later if you want to change. Also, I found some aftermkt "flexible" lips on ebay. Should I need to replace my black GT3 lip sometime, I'll be very tempted w/ one of these ~ $100 cheaper... $139 PU Urethane Lip
So you don't have to make two separate trips dropping off bumper then take car for paint match... here's a thread where I posted instructions on how to remove fuel door. This way, you can take it w/ you for them to scan for match as opposed to just relying on paint code.
Good luck

Anyone have any experience with that lip? You just never know with ebay.
I've already planned on dropping the car off so they can match the paint and fit the bumper for me. I'd rather them do it instead of risking scratching a freshly painted bumper. I've pulled a few bumper covers off in the past but I'd rather them be responsible for it.
Top pic is my ride. I like the colored look obviously and though it does get scraped, I just lightly file the bottom down from time to time to keep it looking good. It will still need to be replaced though at some point and will probably opt for the painted again.
Let me ask you guys with the black lips...I bought the black FVD lip for my stock C2S, and the finish as delivered doesn't look ready for prime time. Tried to clean it up with solvents, then gave up and plasti dipped it. Looked SUPER, similar to the finish of the black stone guards--then it promptly peeled off. Starting over. What's the technique to make that black lip look uniform and matte? Thanks!
Congratulations. I highly recommend painting the lip, and then protecting it with one of these:

It looks great, and eliminates all the wear and tear from scraping the lip on driveways and such.
