Why doesn't someone expound on the "instant on" used in many states, which the detectors usually won't pick up until too late?

 

If a cop is using instant on radar chances are that he/she is also shooting cars ahead of yourself. If so the spread of the radar signal is picked up by the radar detector and it gives a signal. The concern is a cop who is using laser as there is no spread on the laser used to detect the speed therefore no early warning.

 

My understanding is that a laser shifter/diffuser/jammer is the only way to protect against laser. A laser detector will only tell you that you've just been caught, moments before you pull over with your heart pounding.
