TechArt Springs and Stock PASM Shocks

Talked to a Porsche Service Manager about installing TechArt lowering springs in my 997.2 Carrera S. He had a concern about the shocks possibly being damaged by the lowering. 15 to 20mm doesn’t seem like a lot to me, so I wondering if any members had problems with their shocks after installing the lowering TechArt springs?

My car is a 2011 and his comment was if the shocks were damaged after installing the springs the shocks would not be covered by the warranty.

If shocks were routinely damaged by lowering springs, I think we would hear a lot more complaints about that on the boards. Seems like as a whole, those who have chosen to use lowering springs have been satisfied and shock failure has not been a common issue. I believe H&R springs give a more aggressive drop than techart, and haven't heard many complaints. Dealer is probably just trying to cover themselves in case any problems occur.

Agree with above comments. Lowering springs are very common mod and I haven't seen objective data to show that they kill shocks. I'm sure they accelerate shock wear but by how much is unknown. If your really worried about your shocks then consider damptronic coilover system, I've heard some positive review (and some not so positive).

I have the Techarts installed on my car for about 6months now, the drop on the GTS was 20mm. So far they are great, ride is similar to the OEM and no issues with the PASM. Only time will tell if they put more stress on the shocks, but I dont think it will be a big issue for me as I dont put more the 4-5k miles on it a year.

We had the TechArt springs on our project 997.2 C2S and absolutely LOVED them. They ride very smoothly and are comfortable OE like ride. After about 10,000 HARD miles we have ZERO issues. We have installed them on customers vehicles who now have 50k+ on their 997's with ZERO issues to report...

Springs are IN STOCK and ready to ship out... Give us a call...

For those of you who have installed techart springs, what made you decide to go with techart over eibachs? I hear that eibach manufacturers the springs for techart. Do you think they are worth the steep price hike over eibachs? Thanks. Trying to decide myself who to go with.

just wanted to make sure compression rates etc. were right for car.
i did not mind paying a little more for techart to have that added comfort
also if i ever have any warranty issues the stealership will likely be more sympathetic to techart installed mods vs. other after market parts...

Go with eibachs, they are cheaper and probably the same product. I have Brabus springs on my Mercedes and they are made by eibachs, they feel and look exactly the same but Brabus was about $200 more. The reason went with Brabus was because they didn't sell eibachs in the US at the time. I have H&R's on my 997.1 with no problems, love it.

TechArt Springs and PASM

I have TechArt sport springs in my 997.1 C2S. They are great! Street and track.

Bought from Sharkwerks...

I spoke to a 997 Porsche enigineer and he did say that he didnt recommend anyone lowering the car since it did drop the car and that the engineers spent months of testing to get the perfect height and ride quality. By reducing the height you compromise everything and would damage the shock.

But as stated on this post you dont read to much on damaged shocks?

I think the extra coin you pay for with Techart springs is for the evenness of the ride height.

usually a car with springs is lower on the rear than the front.
The techart springs give a very even drop. It looks like it's lowered on coils.
